PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs

Surely, the temperature will drop by the time the game starts🙄

Perhaps we put JVR in as sub and if things arent going well, we sub him in and put TMac back.

Can't believe some of the above posts.

People actually go to the footy and don't drink booze!!!

I just opened a Shiraz to help recover from the shock.

Predicted to be between 27-30 at bounce time.

Those hot sessions out at Casey over summer May just come in handy

Lucky the numbers are big on that team sheet.

Bailey Laurie, Tommo, McVee and Chandler all getting games.

Backline looks completely different without May.

Is it still four on the bench plus the sub or three plus the sub this year?

Bulldogs have named their 4 head monster in the starting 22.

But their bench looks very pedestrian:  J.Johannisen 39 J.Bruce 17 O.Baker 13 M.Hannan 29

Their sub from listed emergencies:  B.Khamis 24 H.Crozier 9 T.McLean 16 J.Sweet 41  unless Beveridge does one of his last minute switcheroos!

Gee whiz Tomlinson. Last I saw he couldn't turn, jump or push. Naughton will have an absolute field day.

Disappointing they didn't go D Turner.

So Tommo in… ok then. What are the matchups given Doggies are playing 4 talls?

You could have lined Turner up on Darcy, kids played like 2 games.

Petty takes JUH

Tommo Naughton

Lever to Darcy

Gawndy on Lobb

We really need to dominate midfield and not allow clean clearances to the Doggies otherwise it will be a goal fest.

Also read May has a hammy not a calf. did anyone else see that?

4+1

Here we go, Tommo!

lol

I will be rooting for him.

Like that forward line as listed.

Not sure about that selection or the reasoning but will love to be proven wrong

Really not a fan of Tomlinson here but if Baker is in their 22 their depth must be struggling

Thanks.  I guess Jordon would be the favourite for the sub position.

We really need to dominate midfield and not allow clean clearances to the Doggies otherwise it will be a goal fest.

Lever trying to reach Darcy's hands, Tomlinson trying to keep up with Naughtons acceleration off the mark, Gawndy on Lobb while potentially losing him at the defence ruck contest with anyone from WB potentially in the ruck, English floating Forward to cause mayhem. If we lose, it will be because of confusion! And if we win it might also be because of confusion

Bulldogs love pace. That’s how they beat us at Docklands last year.  I think they see us as beatable again with forwards and pace.  Tough one with 4 of our best 12 players.

I’m going for this outcome, D17. ❤️💙

Love the optimisim, but I'm sitting here staring at the team line-up just announced and  heroic will be the word for sure defensive-wise if we get up.

It won't be for lack of trying though.   Trac and Clarrie will see to that.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
