He did look like he copped something that made him wince in the last contest he was in right on centre wing.

Whether it was anything substantial I don’t know as the game video stopped shortly afterwards.

Checking his nuts.

Did Dusty play? Or more correctly - Which of our players took Dusty out of the game? No mention in the commentary.

McVee seemed to be on him for most of the game.

Ben brown is copping a bit and whilst stats wise he may not have had an incredible practice match, one view, for what it’s worth, is that he will take the best or second best tall defender every week….and like today that may just allow our other tall forwards (think Max, TMac, Grundy) to outplay the oppositions third or fourth best tall defender they have…..

food for thought 💭 🤷🏼‍♂️

Comes out for Fritsch in my opinion , was getting out bodied at every contest.

Are you for real Wod?

We only need one KPF or ruck  or other forward to drop form or get an injury to give him a chance. There is no sense in him playing all year at Casey. He needs the challenge of AFL this year for sure. Your thinking is even more negative than Goody's about giving young Casey players a go in the AFL.

JVR deserves to have this season a go in the AFL as you said he is young.

He can debut and see if he is up to it and learn along the way.

To clarify- I’m sure he can and most likely will get a game/s  due to injuries or form drop throughout 2023.  I don’t think he will be in the starting line come first game.

And then if he does get a gig and perform that would be fantastic….. I just feel that 2024 will be his breakout year.  If he does it sooner, great.

Great to see a strong win against good oppo. The Tap Brothers dominant. Our midfield and half back spread excellent and our speed of ball movement and execution frightening for this time of year. The only concerns for me were Brown (who should come out for Fritsch) and Harmes constant ability to turn the ball over after doing all the hard work to win it. Great to see McVee get the chance to take Dusty and Taj get a look in in the last  (and look up to the pace).

And of course the most important thing no injuries.

Could not have asked for much more from the hit out.

Our ball movement has definitely quickened and improved. We actually cut the tigers up quite a few times when attacking. That is a great sign. The unselfish play has returned and that is also great. Lastly we have improved our best 22-23 and have more depth.

Are there any proper reports on JVR's game in the magoos?

I think that says it all

L. Hunter post-match:

Man of few words, and less emotion: we won't be seeing him in the Smile File, I think!

But you're very welcomed, sir!

I have no idea how you can take offence at that post, to the point where you start your post with such animosity.

I don’t think the internet is for you, Deeluded.

Exactly. .....then in the killer move.....we swing Petty forward for a couple...(a la Harry Taylor style) ..against Geelong in the granny :)

Little things I loved perched on the fence today:

The confidence the players have in each other.

Clarey working off half back on occasion
Lachie Hunter- so wonderful to have two damaging and solid wings

Grawndy positioning on either side of the ground for the kick down the line. Had Richmond second guessing on numerous occasions

Bowey. Nailed the little things and was creative.
fluid , creative mid field rotations (thought ANB and Kozzie really added to this, as did Rivers)- Harmes let himself down with the turnovers

second half forward structure had, at times, two talks deep and all smalls on the half forward line.

BBB haircut, but think with the rucks floating forward and Fritsch to come in, the forward line might be better running a little smaller. JVR could also provide a different focus, will be interesting to see.

Adem Yze did the presser. Was he game day coach?

Thanks Rpfc

It was a crazy comment about JVR and extraordinarily unlikely to happen. No point in agreeing to such an idea with very little truth in it. That's not the first crazy or ridiculous comment from Wod.

I don't mind if another poster disagrees with me or has a go at my typing. We all have the Dees in our hearts to be posting.

Alot more forward handballs. Oh and 25 kicks between Bowey and Hunter makes a massive difference as well.

why why why Delilah?

We look like a finely tuned outfit ready for round 1. Players fit as fiddles and running in top of the ground. Let's hope we still look like that in 6 months, we will be very hard to knock off. Can't wait for the season to start.

We looked fantastic today.

That said, I still think our best side has Petty forward paired with TMac and one of Turner, van Rooyen, Smith or Tomlinson in the back half.

Good points Red Fire Engine.

Our list has improved 20% on 2022 with Lachie Brodie and player improvement from Spargo Bowey ANB Tracs kicking Sparrow Tmac back BBB needs watching and Riv and Kossies cameos are a real watch. and our footy looks more like back fo 2021 with a bit more flair. Also I think Chandler was good but kicked poor Harmes wasteful but he has toughness that is useful. A fit Lever is great to see and I think Clarry was very kick hungry today over handball. Kicks a long distance also. Gawny is more relaxed now with Brodie out on the ground. To say that either together won't improve our team is not a smart assessment of both these AA ruckmen. . McVee still promising but quiet and I thought Laurie was not poor either and Woey needs more run on time.
And  another 10% better being all fit no passengers.  Plenty of others in the 30 plus challenging to play in the AFL on our list. Jordan Viney Fritta J.Smith JVR maybe  Tommo will return to form and Dunstan is a handy midfield depth player.

Let's not get too comfortable as once we do that we get bitten on our behinds.

Wasn't he great, especially from the start. Sent the message, this is "my court"

"Petty letting Sampson get off the leash". Looks like he had trouble with a tall, 206 cm I think.

Needs to get body on him, or come in from the side with a fly at the ball. I think he didn't show him much respect, and was out timed and muscled.

Didn’t Sampson come on at ¾ time by which time Petty was stuffed?
And speaking of Sampson (in the biblical sense) BBB looked to have lost body strength since Delilah cut his locks.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
