Don't the tigers like to play at Holm Park in Beaconsfield for some practice games ? Just a lazy 4 minute drive from home😊

They played the Hawks there in 2016 for a praccy match but can't recall any others.

Wouldn't mind a game out there myself.

mmmmmmm

they got rid of a practice game so they could play the Harry Potter round in Adelaide and now clubs are adding a scratch match

I wonder if Stkilda will flick on the sprinklers and turn Moorabbin into a mud heap for us.

Just like the good ol' days.

Even more amusing is that one Melbourne club (I think it's Essendon) are likely to play the Gold Coast in a scratch match in Queensland. So much for all the hoo-hah about the tiring effects of interstate travel and how unfair it is that some clubs travel more than others in the season proper.

Apparently (not confirmed) the practice match is going to be Thursday 23 Feb or Friday 24 Feb for anyone looking to wag work.

Dont have to wag.... Semi or fully retired depending on volition, I'll be there!

Going on past form in the Girls finals they did care two hoots about how many got in.

That  game was limited by ticketing deliberately. So they did "limit" the numbers of the crowd to the allowed space for spectators.

Don't think we've had a game at Coburg since they remodelled the outer side of the ground. It certainly was a lovely venue not to mention convenient

Played cricket there on Cup Day in 1967, recall Pentridge hovering to the north, the stench of Ryan's hanging still in the air.

Ronald Ryan was executed in February 1967.  His remains are buried in my home town of Portland.

Yes of course, the crime was committed in 65.

Imagine the meltdown on here if we were to lose to Woodville-West Torrens

With Kossie BOG and walking off the ground with the SA side before getting tapped on the shoulder and then half heartedly jogging back to the MFC boys.

How's the Mad Mile these days?

Only about 1.5 KM and in front of us

Accident’s happen regularly

Back in the 70's it could be scary....

One of my favorite memories of childhood is rounding the corner at the top of the hill heading home to Port. That glimpse of Tower Hill on the right and then away across Killarney and pines of Port in the distance. Goosebumps just thinking about it....

My mother tells the story of being a trainee teacher in Portland and discussing the life and death of Ronald Ryan with a class. One student chooses to excuse herself from the room for the remainder of the class. Turns out she was the daughter of Ronald under a different name...

One of the richest soils in the country, apparently.... You can see the before and after the Tower Hill eruption in the walls of a midden somewhere near Levy's point if I remember correctly.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
