Jefferson:  Just running at this stage along with Burgoyne and Adams.

I think you mean Jed Adams. Jefferson took part in all the drills with the exception of the match sim drill which none of the first year recruits took part in.

Couple of players I want to know how they're going.

Seston, Jefferson Schache, Burgoyne and Turner.

Also, any surprise positional changes to keep an eye out for?

Kye Turner is in the main training group and doesn't look out of place.  Trent Burgoyne was in the rehab group and did a lot of running including a 6 minute fartlek.

It was a very long and high intensity session. I got there at 9:30 and they were already into it and finished with a solid running session at noon.

I think other posters have covered my main take aways.

I didn't see AMW but I might have missed him. I think everyone else was there. Jefferson and Sestan are training with the main group. Sestan has a very mature body and ran out the match sim surprisingly well for someone off a low base. Adams and Verrall are in the rehab group running.  They both have solid frames for development.

Do we know if Lever continued training?

Not after that. The boys then took off their footy boots and put on the runners and then did so run throughs but Lever did not participate.

He then hopped on the bike that is set up under the shelter. I don't think he looked too worried. That is they weren't icing it or sending him off to get scans.

It was a long training session. Started before 9:30am and was still going at about 11:40am when I had to leave as they were doing some running after a 2 hour skills session.

Disco, yeh, I'll have to get that right in future!

And I think you will need to make that distinction in the future because I would be putting Kye Turner on the Rookie list from the one training sessions that I have seen. 🤪

The only sort of mishaps that we want to hear about from training sessions.

I will say that the tackling and intensity was absolutely fierce and I was worried that there would be plenty more mishaps. Thankfully there weren't. I was up close and personal for a few Jack Viney tackles and if my arm wasn't already in a sling from shoulder surgery it would have been after witnessing that devastation.

last session before festive break, i presume - i know burgess always used to do a 'surprise' to the training session to give the players one last challenge; anything like that done by the current fitness regime?

this report is full froth mode in terms of how eager i am for footy season 2023 to begin

I reckon reading the reports is better than actually attending and watching.

Can't wait for training to start again.

Thanks to all posters.

Thanks Demonland, Demon Jack and all other posters that was scintillating informative and “wish I Were there” reporting, loved the differing observations. Certainly finished pre-Xmas training on a high note and the team sounded like they were on 🔥as well.!!!

Just a couple of observations.  Training was sharp, very few fumbles.  They did a loose ball gather and tackle drill right in front of me and there wasn't one fumble of the ground ball.  You'd expect that from the experienced players but Seston was also very clean.

Langdon and Viney were the standouts for me.  I know we all want the young guns to be the standouts but some of the older players were terrific.  Grundy is such an improvement on Jackson ATM and we'll be the better in the short term at least.  Others to impress me were Bowey who was clean and precise, Howes who did well in all the drills, JVR with his competitive ruck work against Grundy and his determination when the ball hits the ground.  May was very good, Salem looks to be moving well and Rivers was involved.

Of the young boys Woey was probably the most impressive to my eye but so much of this is where you stand.  I also liked Howes who I think has very significant upside.

Luckily Howes just signed a 2 year contract extension 😉

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
