So you really do have something to quack about?

Didn't happen to notice Rivers in the midfield?

I think it should be noted that Rivers in the midfield is as a relief and another option of players rotating through. It might only be a preseason trial at this point. I wouldn't expect extended time in the midfield to start with. I guess if it is successful then we will see Rivers flow through the guts more often.

Hey DLand, I was told not to post videos of training by another poster but I was just sharing a link to Instagram.... I assume that's ok given it's a public forum and not a video I have taken myself?

If I were pedantic, I'd say there were 7 over 200cm, 12 over 195cm and 18 over 190cm. πŸ˜„

So who do we think will be nominated tomorrow? Turner or Burgoyne?

burgoyne for mine - offers a point of difference compared to what else is depth on the listΒ

Whatever gets Kossie closer to signing on the dotted line!

Keep it Simple - Best available player

Yes it will be interesting. Β We have plenty of small forwards like Burgoyne on the list but with Bedford gone, the excitement factor he might bring is appealing. Β Burgoyne could be a handy addition. Kye Turner brings additional depth to key tall defenders but I’m not sure this is needed either. May, Petty, Tomlinson are already key pillars and we have development players like Disco Turner and Adams. Β

Schache can play back there as well.

I would say thanks to both and call up Quinton Narkle (for training tomorrow morning who tried at Punt Rd) who was beaten by KB a country full forward .Β

So you want to invite a guy that couldn't get a gig over a country footballer?

Just an observation i have made from training's.

It looks like they have been rotating player for "rests" through the off season.Β  Seams every training there is 2-3 players either on weights or not attending.Β  then they are in full training the next day of training.Β  This is outside of the rehab players although they do sometimes join that group too.

Wondering if anyone else has noticed this, could be a good way to not burn them out in pre-season.Β  I like the idea, but if it works it remains to be seen

Sounds pretty logical. Interval training has been around a long time.

We have come a long way from the no water, keep going until you puke, footy training of yesteryear.

Just watched Gus on the MFC website 15 of the boys are playing golf today with the Coterie group he is a very good speaker. Also noticed in the Yopro add that Tracc was excellent as well and that Clayton carried half the add and did a great job glad to see these greats representing our mighty club.!!

If they are playing golf today then I guess there is no training/Match SIM out at Casey today.

In the YoPRO video Trac and Clarry were narrating their day and they mentioned that the day (presumably yesterday [Thursday]) they rocked up to Casey and trained with a Match SIM and then proceeded to do work in the indoor training center including gym work followed by a lunch where they were sampling the new sponsors product and then the announcement of the new sponsorship.

I guess yesterday at Casey replaced the usual Friday session.

They’re definitely training at Casey today, that video would’ve been filmed yesterdayΒ

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win β€” something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

ο»ΏA hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.Β  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the β€œFuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
