While  of course winning this year is more important than a pick, I can walk and chew gum at the same time.

Here's my tuppence worth on this matter.

If you are writing some sort of formal document or academic submission then accuracy in spelling and grammar is vital.

However, on platforms like Demonland it's more about people being able to comfortably and confidently express their opinions on a subject they are no doubt passionate about.

Provided the meaning of their submission is clear, I see no good reason to dampen their enthusiasm with unnecessary pedantry.

@Bitter but optimistic I applaud you for your tuppence and your kindness.

I do have a different perspective though. Accuracy in language and writing is very important as even the slightest of errors/omissions/misinterpretations can lead to a profound miscommunication.

Take, for example, the Crowded House classic "Weather with you". Is this a misspelling? Has the music publishing house applied an interpretation that misconstrues what these New Zealanders might actually be saying? As Kiwis, it is possible that the song may actually be about the constant companionship between a person and their male castrated sheep..."every where you go you always take the wether with you". Looked upon it from this perspective, there could even be a hint of resentment from the original lyricist towards this sheep; take 'the' wether with you, as opposed to the less hostile 'your' wether with you.

Hopefully I have illustrated how a tiny misspelling of one word, an additional 'a' in wether, has the potential to dramatically alter the narrative.

Isn't it ironic?

I couldn't help myself seeing how Freo fans are coping on BF (I know I know).  One of them had written on their "vent here" thread:

"Who would of though after a decent year where we win 15 games and a final that we would sink to the same old [censored] we’re used to the year after."

I wanted to reply with "Melbourne?" but just thought its rubbing too much salt into the wound.

Is it is or should it be are? Asking for a friend.

Perhaps I should direct the question to Pitty.

Freo getting belted would make this a perfect weekend.

I hope it does 🤢, makes me feel sick just to think about it but it's the best for us.

Daicos to have a bad game so Petracca can be leading the Brownlow.

This morning I find myself swimming against the tide.

I will be supporting Freo today!

Why because I hate the Pies way more than the chance of an earlier pick in the draft.

Collingwood win with plenty of long term injuries then OD?

I understand that OD. I couldn't barrack for the Cats when they played Freo earlier in the season.

Pies will finish top 2 regardless. Perhaps a compromise of a big loss for Freo but the pies sustain a couple of important injuries? Not bad injuries (i wouldn't wish serious injury on any player) but a 2–4-week type injury that means they lose form at just the wrong time of year.

I am happy if N Daicos gets zero votes tbh 😂

Go Pies. Go Blues. Go Suns. Go Hawks. Go Tiges.

Lets hope Swannies appeal the Dane Rampe suspension and he plays next week!

#DeathridingFreo is hard work!

Pies starting to cut loose now. I'll be surprised at anything less than a 50-point freo loss.

Pick four anyone.

Yes please, with a nice bottle of Shiraz 🧐

getting ugly now for Freo. if the pies are of a mind they could win this by 100 points.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
