Feel for Jackson TBH, the kid seems to be on a hiding to nothing.

7 years at 7-800K a year isn’t nothing.

Jackson has played his best footy when Darcy has been out injured or when Darcy has been in injured.

Basically when he gets to carry the ruck load.

...as we know, he's not a forward.

We have the same issue with Max.

With Eeyore Longmuir in charge I would think they will give up and find other hobbies in their life; woodworking or paint-by-numbers…

Can they count?

Kid's party idea: Pin the tail on the Longmuir.

Think it’s closer to $1m a year.

The feathered caps will be on sale if the Swans get over them in two weeks.

Although I don't really like saying this... I hope Collingwood smashes them next week and kills any fighting spirit left in the Dockers.

Then it becomes a down hill until the end season for them, all the way down to bottom 5 🤞🏻.

The kid made his own decision, I have zero sympathy for him if it doesn't work out for him at Freo.

Yep. He'll retire in his early thirties a multi millionaire. Dont forget Freo might come good in a few years. Why would anyone feel sorry for him. Absurd.

If they don't keep losing talent perhaps.

A lot of noise about Darcy leaving to go to Jeelong.

They still need a proper fwd line, I don't think Amiss is a differential player, he may be solid but won't be a Cameron or Hawkins level forward.

Amiss is basically Fritsch +8cm. I think it is fair to say that if Fritsch had had those 8cm he would have easily been drafted in his first eligible season and got off to a similar flying start to Amiss. I agree though that even with those extra cms Amiss (or theoretically Fritsch) does not change to become that traditional bully key forward. Both our outstanding players, though and both should be in routine AA third tall discussions for years to come.

Hence why I believe it was a weird decision to get him in with what they paid for him.

He didn't fit their team balance.  they already lost 1 decent ruck when bringing him in plus other first 22 players.

As for us losing to them, it was the same as last year when Freo has that purple patch of wins and then dropped away.   We should have won, but didn't.

Interesting to see what free do at the end of the season.

Even more interesting in the approach they will now take till the end of this season, will they continue to push hard and experiment with new players/setups ready or next year.

We can’t overtake the pies so I hope they beat the snot out of freo next weekend.

This article has the remaining fixtures for all teams. Having looked at all those team around Freo I expect Swan, Richmond and Carlton to finish well above them.

The two team that concern me the most are the Suns and GWS as both don’t have any easy games in the run in.
Think it will be between those two and Freo for draft picks 4-6. I’d be happy with any of those picks. But I’ll be death riding hard and hoping we get pick 4.

Suns are a certainty to drop off a cliff, they always do in the last part of the season.

Suns play the Saints at home, they should win, but they lose a lot of games they should win

Pick 4 would get us into the Harley Reid conversation for sure.

Without knowing how we rate the other highly rated kids vs Reid, I like the idea of focusing on getting as many good first round picks as possible to give the list a bit of a refresh rather than selling the farm for 1 player

If Collingwood finish top and we finish fourth it’s the same as the other way around. Maintain our position and avoid an interstate first final. Up to us to stay there. No benefit for us in finishing higher. Just hope Port stumble a bit and Collingwood keep cruising.

the preference is the pies at the G for sure but if it comes to it I have no fears of playing Port at AO either. They have [censored] the bed there in finals matches in recent years so we can be confident of beating them.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.

  • CASEY: Collingwood

It was freezing cold at Mission Whitten Stadium where only the brave came out in the rain to watch a game that turned out to be as miserable as the weather.
The Casey Demons secured their third consecutive victory, earning the four premiership points and credit for defeating a highly regarded Collingwood side, but achieved little else. Apart perhaps from setting the scene for Monday’s big game at the MCG and the Ice Challenge that precedes it.
Neither team showcased significant skill in the bleak and greasy conditions, at a location that was far from either’s home territory. Even the field umpires forgot where they were and experienced a challenging evening, but no further comment is necessary.
