Pick 13 usually is a quality player who has slipped or has had a long term injury and clubs want players who will play right away not 12 months down the track al la Kemp of Carlton.

Since we have a good list with cover in most positions we can afford this luxury.

I have to admit that Isaac Keeler would definitely be an ideal replacement for Luke Jackson.

Yes his highlights are excellent and reminds me of a young Franklin but slightly better overhead.

Buddy is listed at 199cm.

Normally not a fan of highlight reels but he looks the goods.  Great balance, good hands and kicks straight!!  Also possibly the longest legs I have ever seen!!

I'd much prefer to go Keeler ahead of Jefferson if we wanted a key position player. Looks to have more weapons and as he fills out and hones his craft could be anything. Just not sure if he would be a reach at 13/14 though?

Wonder if we have a number in mind and may have a team open to swapping out of this year and into next year's draft. Could be a move we make on the night.

I don't see too many defensive or 2nd efforts. Jackson had that and was of of his biggest strengths.

I also have heard that his fitness and work ethic can be a bit of a concern and may need some work.

I put Jefferson in the same bracket.

I'd be very happy with one of Hollands, Phillipou or George at 13/14.

I’ve rewatched a few Oakleigh & Metro games lately.and my observation with Jefferson is that he is willing to chase and put pressure on and do a lot of the team orientated work up forward. A couple of examples stood out, one in the Metro Country game where he made 2 or three efforts resulting in a chase down, smother and scoring shot. The other was in the final minute of the wildcard loss (to Bendigo). The game was well gone, but he still corralled his opponent in the goal square, tackled and won the free kick.

The issue with him is the lack of upper body strength at this stage, so quite a few occasions where the tackles don’t quite stick (he was playing injured in the back half of the year as well). I think that creates a perception of his efforts, which aren’t entirely fair. The want is there though, which we don’t always see with young key forwards.

That's  first time this pressure issue has been mentioned for Jefferson. Sounds like he was injured a bit like some of our players were in the last half of the season. That is changeable in any case with good coaching.

Dazzle what you are not happy with can be changed with training and coaching. 
Not all players tick all boxes they after all are only 17/18/19 in most cases.

I'm a big wrap for Phoenix Foster of Norwood in the SANFL if we're looking towards key forward. I rate him more highly then Keeler and Jefferson.

He's got the physical attributes and frame to becoming a pretty solid key forward in the same mould as a Nick Larkey or Mitch Lewis.

He's also quite athletic in terms of his ability to chop out in the ruck as per his impressive performance against the Allies when Harry Barnett was a late withdrawal. He controlled the ruck and stoppages really well. Recruiters would have been impressed knowing he's added another string to his bow.

He's one I'm absolutely hoping we take in the 30's.

Sibosado! That’s a blast from the past.

I’d hope he’s a little more well rounded and competitive than him.

Generally I don’t like making player comparisons from the same race (not having a go at you) but I can’t help but see homebrand version Paddy Ryder in this guy. So similar physically and in style.

I doubt our recruiters will want to use pick 13 on waiting 4+ years to see if he can be the real version. I think he’ll go to a team in the 20’s who have the time to develop him.

He's gotten some praise for his SANFL u/18's season and some Crow fans with good judgement rate him pretty highly.

Haven't seen enough of him myself, but will have a look at that game Daz.

Me too. I raised his name in the pick 37 thread a few days ago. He caught my eye during the champs and looked good as lead up target up the ground and is also a strong contested mark. Like you said he's very capable in the ruck. Still raw and only just turned 18 in September so think there's plenty of upside. We could do worse for pick 37 or as a rookie if he goes through undrafted in the national. I have question marks over Keelers competitiveness.

Yep he impressed me as well.

He's  currently 197cm tall with the potential to reach at least 199cm by the time he's 25.

His contested marking is impressive and put that with his athletic ability then I think there is some genuine potential there.

I also agree around Keelers lack of competitiveness.

Thanks @adonski, Hotton's close to my favourite in this year's class.  Have a few ahead of him for our pick, but he's one of the more dynamic players in the crop.
