Does anyone have any news or inkling of who will stay and who will be pork copped?

I've been wondering how long the club will wait to rain on someone's literal grand final parade. Any time is too soon for a delisting after a premiership.

Well they only waited 2 days last year, that's a decent measuring stick.

We have only two candidates for delisting:  Baker and Rosman.

Jackson is OOC and asked to be traded.

The rest of the OOC players are reported to have been offered contracts and M.Brown reportedly will retire.

So don't expect too much delisting news.

This  is bad news.

After an underwhelming 2022 where players from 2021 were not under enough pressure to produce by the Coach and SC we need at least 6 new players over 2021 and 2022. To improve our list and keep the list keen and yearning  for growth.

Internal improvement is not enough and in 2022 many list players fell off their 2031 standard. Yes about 8/10 Casey players are promising or will get a chance early but nothing is certain.

Hopefully a couple of new coaches are sought ( not in place of Ooze BTW) for new plans snd our forward line and backs both could be looked at.

I think some sense in recruiting by trade is very necessary for us at present so hope this May eventuate. Our Four Year Plan is petering out if this is the 2023 version.

I suspect we'll see action in FA and trade. Jackson, Bedford, Hunt, Tomlinson could all be on the move and there could be some surprises too.

Don't want surprises and Tommo is contracted another year and Hunt has been offered or is contracted. Bedford has not accepted a 2 year deal to date but has multiple suitors.

If we have these deals I Hope we  trade for a required position rather than  3rd rounder! Say.

I hear what you say.  This is about delistings.  Trades are another topic and presumably are covered in the 'Changes' thread or in individual player threads.

As @old55posted, potential trades will open opportunities for new players.

Is it just rumour or is Hibbo and Melk confirmed to have a new contract??

Rumour.

understand up to a point thanks LH

That's providing we look for players rather than  a realistic pick if any of our players are delisted or approached at say  3rd or 4th round!!!

Last year might have been impacted indirectly by Covid. I seem to recall the club had to advise players before they left Perth as the Covid protocols in place at the time meant in-person meetings in Melbourne would have been out of the question. I suspect some players wanted to go from Perth to places other than Melbourne, such as Adelaide if they were from SA. So, the short time line might have been a one-off.

Correct LDC By the Wed all exits were finished as Gawny took Cup home on the Thursday.

I guess we will get what the club the player has chosen will agree to.

I don't mind if a player is traded for a 3rd draft pick; 4th round is a bit of a stretch.  In another thread I noted that for the last 3 years Taylor has used only picks in the1st and 2nd rounds.  So to me it looks a policy, a smart one at that as the talent gets pretty thin after pick #35.

Essentially, any 3rd or 4th round picks we have/get we package them up for a higher pick or trade them for future picks.

So if for example, we get a 3rd round pick for a player and it helps us package that with another 3rd round pick for a second round pick I'm happy with that as we (theoretically) get a better quality player than the one we let go.

Retirements?

Mitch Brown - off the rookie list

Hibberd and Melksham- each are likely to be given 1-year more.

Jackson - to be traded out

Other trades? Bedford and Tomlinson could seek more opportunities and a fair go elsewhere.

?? Hunt - free agency??

Delistings?
Most likely are Baker and Rosman.
Disappointed for Baker as he stars at VFL but behind too many at the Dees. Langdon, Brayshaw and Jordon ahead of him.
Rosman has not had a good run with injuries. Showed signs with long kicking game but lacked footy smarts at times … ideally needs a rookie season to get fully fit and continue development.  Not sure he gets one.

Baker is gone, not a smart enough footballer on the wing and has had enough opportunity.  Rosman wont be gone,  only 20 and been at the club for 2 years with injuries holding him back.

id say Hibbo and Melk will get contracts but i think we should say thank you and move past them.

also expect M. Brown not to be offered another contract either

then we have  Weid, Thommo and Bedford who may be looking to move on for oppertunity

Respect for Brown, a good honest footballer.

Rosman was a great athlete but he didn’t have any footy IQ at all and wasn’t making any progress.

Shame he didn’t get to play in the VFL grand final though.

Oskar Baker survives the first round of delistings. Can he hang on?

Few more to come you’d think. Got a sneaky feeling Goody’s mate Melksham May get another year

I’m told he will as well as Hibberd.

Melksham should be let go.

id offer Hibberd one year

Rosman never quite looked comfortable at the level despite having some great attributes. Shame he missed out on the VFL granny with concussion.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
