Is former Richmond and West Coast player Patrick Naish worth a shot?

Played 11 games for the Eagles this year.

Here is an article about him: https://www.zerohanger.com/former-tiger-and-eagle-patrick-naish-searching-for-career-lifeline-afl-trade-news-128684/

Might be worth putting on the rookie list and see how he goes playing in the VFL for the Casey Demons to see if he is up to having one final chance as an AFL player?

Of the delisted players, the only ones that interest me at all are;

1. Kyle Hartigan: Key position depth should Tomlinson leave. Would play Turner ahead of him, but break glass in case of emergency.

2. Tom Phillips: Genuine wing which we lack. Would have the potential to force his way into our 22 should he regain his his 2019 form.

3. Liam Stocker: Outside of Dunstan we have no inside mids coming through. Stocker is young enough we could give him the opportunity to develop at Casey.

4. Jackson Callow: Key position player who has some talent. Good set of hands.

I wouldn't be averse to rookie listing Callow. Still only 20yo next year and looked good as an 18yo. Strong mark and lovely kick.

I would have had a crack at Olly Henry instead of Grundy but it is what it is..

He is homesick and wants to go to Geelong, to be with family.

That 50 minute drive from the Lexus Centre to Geelong, must be gut wrenching for him.

Well it is such a long trip, wonder what he would have thought about it 40 odd years ago..

Highly doubt we'll chase any delisted free agents this year.

Yeah, what do we have, two primary list spots? Maybe Rookie List for a recycled tall but I think they will go young.

So if we lose LJ, Hunt, Bedford and Weid, and Rosman and Mitch Brown as well, then the list is down to 36.  That’s 6 vacancies. (presumably Baker, Hibbo & Melksham are offered one year contracts).

Add Grundy and 3 draftees. That’s still two vacancies. Maybe we will bring in another player through trade or delisted free agent, and a rookie selection (or keep for a SSP pickup preseason).

Hopefully Emile-Brenna goes undrafted then we can automatically add him to our rookie B list

Completely forgot about him..

Really hope we've got the list spot ready to go because all talks seems to lead that we may be able to get him outside the top 40.

Rate him highly and adds exactly what we're lacking.

Agree DD36. Excellent disposal and decision making. But FE-B definitely needs 2 years of preseason in the gym and lots of protein powder drinks.

With our luck he will go just before 40.

Yep, like the look of his poise and composure but 62kg at 181cm? Would need at least 2 years to build the body but could be a risk worth taking.

Stack, RCD and Martin all worth considering.

Stack has the talent but I’d be a hard no if Richmond can’t get him switched on

RCD would be good midfield depth. Could take over from Dunstan in 2024 as our best VFL mid and would like to see him tagging at AFL level if given a chance.

Martyn’s not a bad little flanker at either end if we went elsewhere in the draft

Sydney Stack certainly has talent. But I know he has had previous behavioural issues. I can't forget that HUGE bump he laid on Jack Viney a few years ago though! Personally, I think West Coast will pick him up as a replacement for Willie Rioli Junior. But that's just my opinion.

Riley Collier-Dawkins is the interesting one. Especially as he was taken in the first round of the 2018 AFL National Draft. Is he still worth giving a 2nd chance to?

Here is a bit of a "video game theme" highlights video from Riley's draft year:

He might be worth giving a rookie draft pick selection for? However, I guess that's up to Jason Taylor and the MFC recruitment team to decide?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
