Currently at Yarra park & jack Viney is here representing Nintendo switch. I was wishing he was in the ground today not promoting Nintendo

You know, in the back of my mind after our flag was that at least now we’ll feature in those GF opening montages and flashbacks to past Grannies that they roll out every year. And both 7 and Fox Footy have done a stack this week, obviously especially this morning. I’ve seen Boyd, Dusty, Scarlett, Sheed, as well as other Swans and Cats, and plenty of post-siren celebrations , but not a second of red and blue. Not one moment.

Today is a sad day as it’s the last day we are the reigning premiers.
I am so glad I had the opportunity to watch our mighty Dees win the premiership together with my family. It was something I never thought would happen.

Hopefully we all get another opportunity to see another premiership next season.

GO DEES

Deep down I think we know the cats will win, and it’s probably destined for Danger to win Norm. (Spit)
But I’m hoping for a Swans win, and for Buddy to kick 7 and win the Norm.
But I will not watch one second of a Papley celebration.

Sydney by a point.

please.

I'd prefer it was 70 plus or even a record margin in a granny to wipe Geelong's record. Wouldn't even mind them wiping the record winning margin in any match while they are at it.

You have to say a Geelong win albeit sickening is probably a better result given the age profiles of the two lists. It's almost certain Sydney will win won in the next few years so I'd rather not them get one ahead of time and threaten any sort of dynasty we may potentially have.

Max Holmes out does throw a curve ball in the works. Interesting to see how this changes things with their high pressure and high running.

Totally agree. Especially as bang bang bang was one of the most amazing GF moments ever. Ignored by the media again while the Cats are spoken of like gods

Nearly bought a GF package from MFC about 8 weeks ago. Lunch and seat was the deal IIRC for $1440.

At the time I thought to myself I could sell the package at face value if we didn't make it.

Does anyone know if I would have been successful? Nice to know for future years

Thanks

If this cheers up even just one sad sack on DL today, I’ll be happy…

Last night before our match at Ikon (which of course is Carlton’s home ground) for shi*ts n giggles we defaced this sign by plastering it with Demon Army stickers. We were sure our Carlton counterparts would love it. 😁 We didn’t get to cover the entire thing since when you hear security coming it’s best to leg it. 😁

I’m maintaining anonymity lest this pic one day ends up being ‘Exhibit A’.  Remember, CFC has those MacDaddy lawyers who can perform miracles. For this heinous crime I could end up doing 25 to life in the Dame Phyllis Frost Women’s Correctional Facility.

edit: on our way out post-match we noticed it had been taken down. If only their girls were as quick and successful in taking down their opponents, amirite?!

Oi! I barrack for Melbourne NOT Collingwood!
And I must remain anonymous coz we can’t have me being mobbed at matches next year now, can we?! The other DA gals might get jealous. 🤭

Gotta hit the punt heavily today to have some interest.

hit Cats over 40 hard and Swans under 10. God knows I’ll be happier with the latter

OK, last pics in the slide show then I suppose we have to focus on THAT game today. ☹️

This was at THE BEST match this year. Vs Carlton. Me and my DA buddy Pauline (Mrs Frittata) with a couple of minutes left in the match when the game looked as good as lost so may as well take a selfie.

Then a couple of minutes later when Kozzy goaled. She’s so cute… she holds up the giant Fritta head no matter what’s happening. 🥰

I put a small goal kicking multi on and backed the unders . Like yourself, I not that interested.

In fact, I'll probably only watch bit and pieces and maybe tidy up The Manor's gardens.

Is it just me or does Robbie need a better microphone?

Sound quality is ridiculously bad, this league can't even fluke something right.

Mate, you have absolutely no idea how much of a nightmare it is to do this gig. A temporary sound setup you have to pull out in the middle of a footy ground, a 100k seat stadium, dealing with the massive sound issues you encounter with mixing sound outdoors in a huge space, then you have a great performer but average singer performing with a band he's just met and rehearsed with maybe once.

Every year people sook about this without understanding how incredibly difficult it is.

I think Robbie is doing a great job 👏🏻👏🏻

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?

After kicking the first goal of the match the Demons were always playing catch up against the Saints in Alice Spring and could never make the most of their inside 50 entries to wrestle back the lead.
