Don’t know anyone with inside information so just a guess.
I think Bowey must come in, probably in place of Salem who is just not playing like he has in the past.  Bring him back in 2023.

tMac. Bring him back in 2023.

AnB not playing like he did in 2022 bring him back in 2023.

so that begs the question, who replaces AnB

Smith I think. A point of difference let’s play Frostball.
Harmes to the centre and Brayshaw on the wing. And a light training run this week

The key change we need to make is to play long and boring around the boundary. The Lions are missing their best ruckman. Minimise the number of bad turnovers and strangle them.

That's why I say keep him in.

It's debatable though.

Bowey ?

As much as I despise Chris Scott as a person. What he has done well is integrate young players into the team over the years with the protection senior players. We have had opportunities to integrate players this year, being 10-0, injured players, players returning too soon from injury. We have had opportunities to do so this year but have not aside from possibly Bedford. For me we have had players at Casey deserving of an opportunity but not given one other than being named in a squad. We have had players in the ones underperforming that have not been kept honest by dropping them. Sure we finished second on the ladder with a relatively hard draw which you have to be happy with but I feel that we have missed opportunities to be better with player selection, development and method. Anything less than a Preliminary final berth will be an epic fail. The buzz word for us this year was to be “ruthless” as a football club. I don’t think we have been unfortunately.

Anything less than another GF appearance is a fail for me and anything less than 2 flags over 3 seasons is also a fail considering our list.

I think Melksham holds his spot. His disposal let him down on the weekend not his general play.

When he missed his second set shot, he’d had 4 touches for the game. What were you seeing?

Fritta is playing injured as well. Tempted to suggest we drop Melksham but may be worth one more run and go in unchanged (barring changes for injuries that require resting/recovery).

Just shows how lucky we were with less injuries last year.

Luck or better management

Not sure our list is all it is cracked up to be. A few great players, but several pretty mediocre ones. And some of our better players have major flaws...ie. Brayshaw's substandard disposal. Timid selection and the failure to regenerate the team by trying a few new players, and instead rewarding mediocrity, hasn't helped. Thank God for Oliver.

Sorry I wasn't clear, I meant Bowey to replace him.

No change

Change the way we play not who plays.

Just watched a young key position player in Jye Amiss who in his 2nd game of AFL footy just take control of doggies defenders and made a solid contribution.

The mind boggles that to this day JVR hasn't really come close to a debut. Time for ego to put his stubbornness aside and just play the kid next week.

We don’t play a brand that suits most forwards bar the ones who can crash a pack.

If we put speed on the ball then it will create a lot more one on ones in our forward line. But then it exposes our defensive structure obviously and we get heavily scored against.

Petracca may not play

He has a hairline fracture of the fibula

Should not attempt to play. Only fit and healthy competitors.

IN - Bedford, Dunstan

OUT - ANB, Petracca

Trac has to be very doubtful to play. No Risk Policy...! Get him primed for the Prelim...

Many on here said Salem shouldnt play and they were right!!

Always needs 1 run.

What are the chances that the Lions get up? They must be kicking at the lips to try and prove a point. Then again I’m a nervous supporter and the neutral will tell you that we are in their heads and we should win comfortably.

Include-

Dunstan, Bowey and 1 of Mitch Brown, JVR, Tom Mac or Joel Smith.

Outs-

Pettraca, Alex NB, Melksham.

I said post match that harmes would be our only change through suspension. That didn't eventuate.

I think Joel Smith, Roo or even Weid has to come in. We need more marking targets. I'd keep Milkshake in even though his game was very poor. He's had some good games, including against the lions  I'd probably drop Spargo who hasn't done a great deal for a number of weeks.

I'd be tempted to rest Petracca but I trust the doctors to make the right call.

Going to be a long week!

They will be desperate to atone for their 2 pitiful efforts against us tis year, also Fagan will try and flip the Zorko situation to try and fire them up. Take nothing for granted.

I am more concerned we lose this match than i was before round 23.

I reckon now that they have won a final they'll view this match, on our home deck and at long odds to win, as a free hit and play more relaxed.

And I feel like we are under more pressure.

100% agree. They are not expected to win, just like we will have a free hit at geelong if we make the prelim.

The more I have thought about it today the more they are a huge chance to win this.

Aren't we meant to be peaking atm?

Our team defence slaughters them. We should and will go into this red hot favorites, petracca or not.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
