It sounded to me like we made plenty of noise a couple of nights ago. If you really think the crowds are to blame for the team's weak performances then you're delusional

1) we did not make plenty of noise. The crowd was pathetic

2) no one has said that was the reason we lost

MFC members 10.00AM Monday.

I have 18 hours to decide if I am going or not.

I went with No.1 wife last Friday and in spite of the loss we had a good time however our bodies were feeling the stress Yesterday.

A lot of walking and we did not get home after midnight. I think the last time i looked at the clock it was 2.40.

Another 7.50pm start, nowadays that is really pushing the odds for my aging body.

Big decision to make.

I live so far away and the 7:50 start just makes it so hard to catch a train home. Once upon a time Vline would organize trains or buses not any more. Trains and trams only go back to Flinders st, no good when you need to get to Spencers St.

Spectators are now very low on the totem pole MS.

What I joke I struggled to get two last Tuesday in any reasonable area.

Won’t be an issue this week according to some on here od, we’ll be lucky to get 50k they say.

All Jolimont trains go to Flinders st then on to Spencer St as the start of their next route via the Underground, to Hurstbridge etc.

Not an issue. Just jump on a city bound from Jolimmint. It stops at Flinders st for no more than 5 minutes before on to Spencer.

Old dee I totally understand your thought process. As I was making my way home Friday night and even most of yesterday I was questioning if I would go this week or not. I think I got to bed about 1am and the process of getting home was just no fun. But then I sat down and watched one epic final and another excellent game and thought I just have to go. Life is short and we have been garbage for most of my life and there’s no certainty we get back to this position next year.

I really hope you and your wife go and hopefully enjoy us winning and getting into another preliminary final, but I will understand if you chose the stay at home option.

Just get there everyone who can.  We got 90k crowds to our first two finals in 2018 and I'm sure it made a difference.  You never know when we'll play our next one.

I honestly don’t get it.  All the grief that I heard how we the supporters were robbed last year when the finals were played in WA.

This year we have 65k plus members and I imagine plenty more supporters and yet there is talk that we might be lucky to get 60k to the G this coming Friday (which would include Lion’s supporters).

We are the reigning  premiers, who have managed to snag a double chance in a very difficult season and our own fans are writing us off.

We have the home ground advantage, surely the least we can do is give our boys a definitive home crowd advantage.

Strangely and very sadly I have more faith in our players (despite being banged up) turning up and giving their all , much more than I have faith with our supporter base turning up and giving their all. (Sure, we may not be the most vocal but do we have to be the perhaps the quietest?)

Please prove me wrong.

Same, Wodja. People not turning up to H&A games for whatever reasons/excuses is one thing. But I was so sure these selfsame people would turn up for finals. I’m astounded at the rate of no-shows. Maybe people were happier when we were 💩 and didn’t make finals. Sounds silly, but what else could it be?

PS: At halftime I came to where you were sitting but couldn’t spot anyone fitting your description. But I did make some new friends, which will happen when you stand in the aisle like an eejit eyeballing everyone for an unsettlingly long time. 😁

I went last week but had some fat drunk bogans kids kicking my seat for three quarters. I politely asked them to stop and said bogan got aggressive and almost wanted to fight. Totally unnecessary and uncalled for. Really ruined the spirit of the game for me and not something you see often from a fellow dees supporter.

Wish we could get our reserved seat away from the riff raff for finals.

7:50 is a crapola time for getting home, but I will be there regardless.

the crowd noise was good when we were up and about, but dropped when we started to screw the pooch.  Sydney fans got noisy and we dropped off.

i hope this week we show up en masse, make noise and help set the tone for the team and the umpires. We hated not being there last year, let’s show them how much we appreciate them getting back to the pointy end again.

Do we get new barcodes to buy tickets, or can we use the one we got for the quarter finals? I haven’t received an email from the club.

I received an email and checked and the barcode looks the same to me.

I imagine the barcode won't change for the rest of the year. It didn't last year.

Good to know that they are the same, although I am a bit annoyed that I haven’t received the email. Thanks for the heads up.

I get how most are feeling.

More than a whiff of straight sets, banged up team and a lions outfit that will be hunting for revenge. Far from a guaranteed victory.

Late start, late finish. Another ticket to purchase.

If you're on the fence, I'd implore you to get along. We of all people know that finals absences can happen quickly, and we never know when we might get back to this position again with some key planks in our team starting to get on.

Its largely the same team that gave us a flag last year. They're probably not at our best, but they deserve our support.

As for the game, I attended many games when we had a less than 5% chance of winning. Comparatively this couldn't be more exciting with a PF on the line.

Plenty of premier's have lost a QF - get along and support your team.

Neutrals start rocking up for the Semis as it's the last time non-competing fans can realistically get tickets -- I know of four people there on Friday who go for neither Melbourne nor Sydney. Finals particularly first and second weeks are always made up of around 10-15% Neutrals. This week will be no different.

Melbourne fans even thinking of not going who can attend have rocks in their head: it's our fourth final in Melbourne in 16 years and we're a contender with a second chance. Now is the time more than ever to show up and get loud.

60k+ would be a fantastic achievement. People understate how good 78k was against Sydney. Pies will likely get 80k against Freo who get good travelling support so 65k-70k should be an expected result for Friday night.

You’d imagine mid 60’s for this one.

The combination of the novelty of attending Melbourne’s first MCG final in 4 years inflated Friday’s crowd, Brisbane having less supporters than Sydney and the fact that we lost should see a reduced crowd this week.

There is also a good chance of showers, according to the long term weather forecasts.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
