NON-MFC: Round 23, 2022

Obviously the Blues player Durdin? cant do his maths. They only needed a point for a draw to make finals. He picked the worst of 3 options. The low risk as well as best option play was to kick deep to the goal square. He ignored a couple of moderate risk kicks to players inside 50 but went for the defensive kick to the pocket where there was no Carlton player there because they were not expecting it to go there. Huge misstep.

The First Crack just showed some more incredibly damning footage for Carlton fans.

Curnow has the ball at half forward in a set play after a mark just before the Elliot go ahead goal. He has Durdin all on his own on the 50, but ignores him and goes deep where they turn it over. But that wasn't really the problem. The problem was somehow behind Curnow Carlton were outnumbered. Collingwood had Elliot and Ginnivan free.

So on the turnover, Carlton were out of position and outnumbered. Elliot kicked the goal, game over.

As they pointed out on the TV, that sort of thing just doesn't happen with sides like us or Geelong. For us, we never would have sent extra numbers into our forward 50 to try to score, and May and Lever behind the ball would have been marshalling the troops.

That’s going to stay with him fr a long time. It just had to go to the goal line. So obvious 🤦‍♂️

There was a few more problems after that which may be brought up.

One when a Carlton player kicked long to an outnumber in the square when McKay was out on the flank 15 metres away. Why kick it long when your best contested mark is not there.

Another thing I remember is the red headed wingman (not a bad player) virtually walked the ball out of play on the half forward line with a minute or less to play...it was all or nothing and he showed nothing...needed to dive and knock the ball in board, a Wayne Harmes move but feebly let it go out.

Cripps had a great game but tried to win it on his own in the end...it is a team game Patrick.

They really didn't deserve the win in the end. Well done Collingwood.

I think it's only happened once and that was against a low-drawing Fremantle (who knocked off the Cats!) in 2012.

When the new stand is finished, Geelong would be well within their rights to demand a home final.

The "taxpayer oval" is not upto AFL standards as it is now LET ALONE good enough for finals. Can you imagine the cry if ever a final was played there with a decent supported club. Tickets would have to be 50/50% but their "entitled" lot will not accept that.

Let’s get >80k like in ‘87 when we absolutely destroyed them!

And similar figures against North Melbourne (who were really good back then).

Oh man I can't wait until this feral mob are silenced, hopefully by us

AFL members by the look. Their members not a patch on our members. They must be ex cheer squad as way back a dentist mob sponsored their cheer squad and were given massive discounts. Not sure how many took it up but a neighbour of mine did received treatment.

I suspect the Blues don't have what all good teams do - an elite decision making coach. if they do I'd be amazed.

Cats have had one since Bombers days - David Wheadon for example.  We have in Yze.

The Blues decison making up close and live in the past two weeks tells me they don't or they footballers with zero Footy I.Q.

We are blessed with Lever, Oliver, Max , Trac, May, Salem etc.  And jake Bowey who was drafted according to Jason taylor becasue he was rated at draft camp as elite in both kicking and decision making.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
