What has that got to do with COVID protocols breach?

I presume we are talking about the fines handed out to Sydney and others for not complying with the AFL's protocols?

So, basically for the finals, any COVID safety protocols could be ignored if you're happy to take the financial hit?

What a complete joke

The falsifying of COVID test results should have resulted in suspensions to the parties involved.

Although looking at the three clubs topping the list, it's not really surprising how they got away with a smack on the behind.

You are surely not suggesting corruption at AFL House?

"The AFL says penalties were given for breaches including not undertaking a rapid antigen test (RAT) within specified time periods, and uploading an image taken of a previous RAT undertaken by that person or someone else"

no suggestion that failed tests were covered up, quarantine rules breaches or anything that results in players playing that should not have played. Why would anyone be suggesting suspensions in these circumstances?

The world is now living with Covid. Let's just move on shall we.

Cmon man! Hardly on the same level and your statement about Rioli being drug free is ridiculous.

umm, if the RAT images uploaded were essentially fake (ie. previous images from old tests), how can you be so sure that failed tests weren't covered up?

can't be sure of anything. If a club decides to cover something up then requires a lot of digging to uncover - see Essendon drugs scandal

however they take the covid tests every day. not difficult to send in the previous days in error. Plus covid shows up on rats tests for a number of days so would require a major cover-up  as i've said. And needlessly exposes the rest of the list to covid.

btw the accuracy of rats tests is pretty sketchy. I've heard of plenty of people you passed the rats but failed the PCR. but thats another story

100% disagree with this comment from an Australian perspective.

Until the state governments remove the 1 week isolation period upon testing positive with COVID, Australia is most certainly not living with COVID.

Assuming you do the right thing by the general population and isolate, you could miss out on your own wedding, birthday or attending an MFC premiership live even if you're not particularly sick.

We have nowhere near moved on from COVID.

Sending in photos of old tests would be more to do with not wanting to shove a thing up your nose twice a week when you are feeling 100% healthy with no symptoms. You could call it Laziness. I personally know of people at the 2 different AFL at clubs not named who have done it. My kids are still getting sent home with Rats and I'm not making them test unless they feel ill or have kids in their class confirmed cases

No where near! staying in doors for a week if you test positive is hardly nowhere near. If you've covid you're probably sick and most likely not heading out anyways

We have vaccines, no more lock downs, we're free to move around, go to games, travel internationally etc. etc.

We've come along way from where we were

And how do the AFLK "Integrity Commission" 🤗 ascertain that the clubs involved did not gain advantage?

WCE must be spitting chips - their season was derailed by their compliance with the protocols.   We had a few players standing aside even though they may not have had covid, and this could have effected results.  Maybe we should have covered up and essentially made false declarations?

Yes RATS are pretty much hit and miss, but the fact is that the clubs signed on to the protocols and in some cases seem to have thumbed their noses fraudulently claiming compliance.

Do you want players suspended for not doing the test in time or sending in yesterday's rat test?

Yes. I wasn't allowed onto my work site without a valid RAT test. If that is what they were asked to do and they're not complying then why should they be any different?

They're professional athletes getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars a year for crying out loud. How hard is it to follow the rules that are set out in front of them.

Actions and consequences. It's pretty simple really.

Is there a way to automate this comment so it’s automatically the second post on every thread? Will save a lot of time.

Hahahaha oh Gil never change.

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
