ย

Just a 35-minute submission for AFL counsel Nicholas Pane.

Not a lot to report.ย Pane said a player could contest with his eyes on the ball and still be in the "action of bumping an opponent", which of course was what Townshend disputed.

He said Cripps not being questioned whether it was a bump or not was irrelevant. He said based on the evidence given it was a matter for the Tribunal to determine whether the actions could be constituted as a bump.

We're just realists, Chooky.

Absolute farce if he gets off. You canโ€™t be knocking out blokes who then miss weeks and walk away scot free.

Maybe tl_nl (too long _ not listening)

Can you imagine one of the Tribunal members putting up his hand (like a stop sign) and saying that?ย

10 or 15 minutes you could understand but an hour would put some of our pollies to shame

I imagine that the protagonists are sitting amicably together sipping single malt and smoking cigars laughing at the peasants outside who are waiting with baited breath for their pronouncements.

I thought it was Too Long Demonlandย

For heavens sake just let Cripps play . Carltonย  is done. Who cares?ย  ย What has all this 'lawyer -ing and legal interpretation got to do with anything. This sports elite garbage happened several weeks ago with Buddy and the swans still beat us.

Let Cripps play. We'll lick em in the morrow!

The door has been opened. Apparently the Tribunal said he was contesting the ball but should have been more careful. They didnโ€™t say he bumped.

I smell a rat. Why wouldnโ€™t they have simply found he bumped?

Is this a set up to get him off at the last stop, so it looks like they fought hard to suspend him.

We will see.

The AFL is full of rats I suspect.

Jeez thatโ€™s like saying the oceanโ€™s full of waterย

If he gets off this then thereโ€™s no point in the rules re head high contact and no point in the tribunal.ย

This. Win win for the AFL. One of the Brownlow โ€œfavouriteโ€ gets off but the AFL donโ€™t look week on head knocks because they tried.ย

What an absolute sham of an "organisation" the AFL has become. ย  Gillon can't move on soon enough.

"The head is sacrosanct" except when it isn't. ย Chandler must be feeling totally flabbergasted and abandoned having made the perfect tackle and getting two weeks without even an appeal.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
