  • Demonland changed the title to What's next for Adem Yze?

Hopefully Clarko takes the Giants job. Can't see Roos taking another rookie coach.

Nobody is irreplaceable, but I would not like to see Yze progress to senior coaching just yet. We have lost enough football ip with the 2 former football dept. staffers to Geelong. Stay a few more years and see more finals campaigns in the red and blue Ooze.

he's ready to have a crack and the Giants will have some  talent to work with. But no doubt they are a bit of a basket case right now with salary cap imbalances. Hopefully he can facilitate a trade with MFC with some player swaps.

I can see him at Port of Dogs next year.

would be mad to go to GWS, with players constantly leaving and the ones that stay on huge contracts, not putting in.  GWS need a senior coach that will be given 3-4 years, not a first timer that will be sacked if no success in 2 years

He had credibility and standing in the game, no need for him to rush in to snr coaching this year. He would be learning a lot off Goody and Choco.

All depends on Clarko's movements. I'd love to see Yze with us for at least another year but it could be wishful thinking. He's a coach in waiting really.

Probably how we all feel. You never really know how much a coach particularly an assistant coach brings to a team. It’s hard to measure success. For many, the only real measure is a flag. Look at Goodwins history. If you took popular opinion 12-18 months ago, Goodwin would have been banished to the football tip of sacked coaches. There are thousands of Geelong supporters who regard Scott as a failure for that reason. This opinion will only change if they win this year god help us.  With Yze the sentiment is that he is a successful Assistant coach but does it mean that he will make a great senior coach ? But as in life  these things only become known if a person take their opportunities. Adem seems a terrific bloke who is liked by the players and respected for his knowledge and approach. As a supporter,  I would like to see him stay for a few more years but at the same time be happy for his sake if got the GWS job.

Sentiment won't be a factor, this is his career we're talking about. All the best ooze, and good luck at the Giant's

We give them Oooze. They give us Whitfield and Hopper. We then on trade these two for either both McKays or both Kings.

Nice round up of experience and development after his years with Clarko.

How many more years do you want him to do an apprenticeship?

Not good for us but Ooze deserves a gig at the top.

If he picks the wrong gig, his senior coaching career will be over in 2 years. AFL clubs are not big on second chances

So for his sake, I would take my time and wait for the right opportunity

Brett Ratten and Michael Voss say hi.

I think that 2nd chances will become more accepted by AFL clubs

Would be very sorry to see him go he helped us achieve the Holy Grail in Footy, he is already a legend of our mighty club But if that is his desire then go forth and conquer Adem Oozze Yze.❤️💙

Hopefully it happens more. But if you take over a bottom club as a new snr coach it’s very unlikely you’ll be successful or get another gig

Yes and no.

Voss is doing exactly that at Carlton. Another 12 months and they might be top 4.

Fagan as a first time coach at lowly Brisbane and now doing a very good job.

Ten years ago your comments would have been spot on. These days it's more case by case. I think Ooze is a terrific coach-in-waiting. If he doesn't succeed at GWS or North I reckon he's too good to be overlooked at another club that suits his approach.

But hey, let's hope he stays for the 3 peat!

There should be some compensation for trading coaching staff i reckon. 😀

Hawks would've had 3 top 10 picks each of the last 10 years if that was the case! 🤣

Gut feel is Clarko will go to North, simply because he has a past connection there and they're Melbourne based.

Giants i think will go with one of Kingsley or Yze.

If Yze goes, we need to headhunt the best midfield coach we can find, he's played a massive role for us. I don't hate the idea of James Hird as an assistant. i understand the negative drug saga side of it, but he's a brilliant football mind, a legend of the game and someone who'd walk in and have the respect of the players from day 1.

Given the drugs stuff though, would he have the respect?

I'd hate him anywhere near our club.

But agree, if Yze goes, we need the best.

Turning out to be a good year for us.

Jacko, going most likely, Yze possibly and media urging Bombers to get Choco.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
