I thought Grundy could kick goals

His highest tally is 12 in a season (2021)  so not overly great. But still 2 more goals than the generational talent that’s currently relieving Max in the ruck.

He hasn't been a premier ruckman for 2 years, and now has a series of injuries.

There is a fairly decent list of players who're injury prone, but move to another club where the medical staff get them right and they thrive, if Selwyn and the team think they can get Grundy back to anywhere near his best i think we'd be silly not to seriously look at it.

Jackson he did kick 16 goals last year in just his 2nd year of AFL footy.

That's more then Grundy ever has in any season.

He's on massive coin, so regardless of the dump, we're still paying him at least $700k for 5 years.

Which would be better than Weid or Mitch Brown in the ruck, when Max needs a rest or is inured.

Injury prone seems a bit of a stretch as well.

Edit: No doubt we will want to manage any particular re-occurences of his pcl going forward, but he's been pretty durable.

Grundy in our fitness program, dropping some kg's over the summer (Like Max did) would be a decent get on 700k a year, it's worth the risk if the club and medical department have had a good look and think we can do a better job of managing his body.

Our fitness program is not our strong suite if you've been reading allot of posts on here lately

I see the appeal

Imagine getting 2 first round picks for Jackson (and potentially then some), and being able to pinch Grundy for a 2nd rounder in a cap dump

Would allow them to be super aggressive in moving up the draft order for a forward or other player they really like

I'd have more confidence in Grundy 20m out directly in front than Max

No-one said he's injury prone, but having a PCL followed by stress fractures to the ankle isn't great for a big bloke.

Think it's evident we'll be putting all chips in on the off season. Whether it's throwing a mega offer to a contracted fwd, or grabbing a risky player like Grundy, they aint gonna die wondering

Why?

WalkingCivilWar could get the Demon Army to turn that into a chant you know, Bbo.

Gee are you en dee why ... Grundy!  Clap clap clap.  Grundy!  Clap clap clap. etc

It's worth exploring.  Grundy and Gawn are very different players with different strengths.  They could complement each other nicely.  He's no Max but he'd be the best second ruck in the league by that far it's not funny.

Geelong interested too.

They’ve already stolen Isaac Smith, Max Holmes and Brent Grgic off us.

Yeah, but Sam Blease was the real heartbreak one...

I love how it refers to us as flag contenders. I didn’t read the actual story. Just looked at the link, took the bit I liked, and moved on with my life. It’s my current approach to ‘journalism’. It’s actually very efficient, and it saves me giving click revenue to parasites.

Although I'd be happy to see them weighed down with the albatross that is his contract for the next 5 years it's more likely that they'll be picking up a fair bit of the tab to move him on if they can. On that basis it make sense to at least have the conversation I guess but would taking on all of his remaining 5 years be a non negotiable from his perspective or would he be happy to compromise if it gets him out of Mordor?

Are we really questioning the FD on this without the full details? Surely there's a point where they deserve some credit and trust?

Ties us over until Jeff White’s kid is ready to be first ruck 🤣

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
