I heard that every television viewer from MFC  is turning off the sound for the whole game in protest for rubbish commentary .I also decided to get a texta for my screen as an added bonus, to ink out the maggots.

I have for some years willmoy. I don't get a commentator when I go to a game so why do I need one on the tv!

Huge test for Ben Brown. Out of form for some time and now very little tall support around him in a big game against a quality opponent.

Would love to back him in, but I've not seen much from him this year to warrant any faith.

If he doesn't fire this week he absolutely must play VFL next week to try and find some form before finals.

For future reference. When Goody says  this about Weid, "we're happy with how he's developing", it's code for "he's shown nothing at AFL level, and will be playing at Casey in the foreseeable future".

Yeah I got sucked in by that comment.

He hasn't shown much in his career alone.

Just thought they would have used him as a forward alongside Brown.

All good, just means more opportunity for Bedford.

Showers and 13 degrees forecast perhaps not a night for Big men. Cats will ruck Stanley and Blicavs and Hawkins in the forward line pushing everyone in the back

I think Goody made a great point today in his presser today in saying that a lot of people are saying our forward line is struggling but we have had 37 and 24 scoring shots in the last 2 weeks

I’m anticipating Gawn will play half the game forward.

Not until there are injuries binman. He is a battler!

And not if Bedford proves up our smaller forward line structure against the cats

Bailey Fritsch on the Bench,

Come on SWYL, you've been around long enough to know that the named team bears no resemblance to how they will line up on matchday.  Might as well just name a squad of 22 these days.

Toby Bedford deserves a run of games. I'm delighted he has retained his spot

Ditto.... as i said a few weeks back.  He's the Bowey of 2021 but in the front half.

Jake Melksham must be in some red hot form on the training track

Doesn't even play any footy last week and gets named 1st emergency.

Kade Chandler has 29 and 5 snags and doesn't even get a nod on the Em list.

Poor fella lol

That's classic straight bat Goody though. Personally I don't think you judge how the tall forwards are performing based purely on total shots on goal. Don't think you'd find many who would say they're happy with Ben Brown's form and fact is he has barely contributed to the forward line even taking into account non-scoring efforts.

We need him in reasonable form by finals, if he can't find it this week then it's back to Casey IMO.

30% chance of rain, with a possible fall of 0 to 0.4mm.

Don't think it's a factor.

Love the change of course on the talls front, and that they’re backing Toby in. The development of Bedford and Jordon has been a real highlight this year. Can’t wait for this one.

I would suggest that much like the last two weeks, one of the rucks will rest forward so it’s really no different. Brown will have a much better time with Gawn in the goal square than he did with Mitch Brown and Weideman down there.

Gawn lives rent free in Geelong’s head

He'll be saying that when the Weed is 30 years old.

If that fat oily [censored] Hawkins tries injuring May again I give Viney full permission to break both his kneecaps.

He doesn’t need to ‘fire’ - he needs to play his role. No one else can with TMac out. That is his starting expectation and pass mark.

Neither Jackson or Gawn are really forwards though, and I remember Gawn and Ben Brown mucking up contests for each other earlier this year. Our best lineup is BBB, TMac and then Jackson and Gawn, Goody has even talked about that being our preferred structure, so I don't think Brown having an, at best, part time forward as support sometimes is going to help much with him finding some form.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
