I thought we were all about selflessness and team above ego... no matter how good  a footballer he is ..this guy is destructive..

I'd be happy to see him play  for Casey till the end of  the year and then he can go to the Filth or the druggies for chips..

How in earth are the media getting drip fed all this stuff??

Is the club releasing it to them, or players themselves??

Can only be one or the other right?

Seriously, if May wants to say those sort of comments to 'one of his own', he really should be saying them here on this site anonymously.  At least he'd get a few likes.

Great banter tbh

Max Gawn thinks that [censored] talk. He has been up on his high horse across a bunch of different forums about the team and how they talk to each other and belittling Smith as having done nothing with his footy is absolutely poor. And worth confronting. Just not violently.

If that’s what was said then this thing has been the biggest beat up yet. Yes there was a fight but all that nonsense about finals creates a fracture/division in the playing group  etc is BS. The only thing was the brawl and that was dealt with swiftly.

Sounds like they didn’t even get to eat. They probably should have had a Mars bar on arrival to settle the hanger.

Um..Two players from a premiership club getting into Biffo at a Restaurent aint just a media beatup.

Some serious issues about this which as a member I am concerned about!

I'm being facetious mate.

It's actually quite humorous (as a non player that doesn't particularlyrate Smith or Milkshake) but I understand that it's not what Gawny has been trying to instill into the group

Rate him or not, it’s literal trash to tell a teammate that you’re basically happy he got injured and didn’t play in a flag. If the shoe was on the other foot and May didn’t pull up from his hamstring, he wouldn’t want Smith to joke about it.
These guys have worked their whole lives and have sacrificed everything to win premierships. Would May say that to Jones? No he wouldn’t!

Considering May spent 10 years at a rock bottom club achieving nothing, it’s bloody rich of him to be pulling out this garbage. Really poor behavior from someone who is meant to be a leader of our club and the leader of the backline. How does he expect to command respect from the rest of his teammates after pulling this crap?

Also he was clearly not sober, which considering he is recovering from a head injury, just shows me he has really bad judgment and probably an inability to not consume alcohol.

It's not clear from the reports that it was May who made the 2nd comment (about getting injured before the finals).

Either way, I reckon there's nothing at all in there that should have lead to fisticuffs

Maysie clearly a bit of a ‘lad’ - loves to take the [censored] out of his mates, loves a beer and isn’t short on confidence.

Gets away with it most of the time though because a) not an easy thing to confront b) footballers who lead like ’generals’ on the ground generally get praised, not told off and c) most of the time it is probably harmless.

But he clearly has a lack of empathy which they need to address head on now. The Melksham comments, the sharp feedback he clearly gives to players on the ground and even an unprovoked joke he made on social media about Jake Lever needing to shave his pubic hair. You can just tell he doesn’t really understand how his comments/actions impact some people.

I’ve experienced a similar person in change rooms before…. People just let it happen because the person was a good player and they didn’t want to challenge him because it would be awkward and would probably result in the bullying being focused on you… didn’t mean people weren’t desperate for it to stop though.

Let me be very clear. I do not condone violence. Ever.
And I have a feeling it got physical because all involved were drunk. Which makes the entire thing worse. Smith and May injured and therefore not allowed to drink. Melksham fighting to keep his career alive. None of them should have had so much alcohol that their judgement was so impaired to the point where they’re punching on in the street!

And let’s be honest, these are all big solid guys. A beer or two wouldn’t impact them.

I am less concerned than I was previously. The ‘banter’ was in ill taste but it wasn’t as vulgar as what the media has made it out to be. Why let the truth get in the way of a good story?

The violence is the only issue I have with it. They had a few, made a bad decision and are now sorry for it. I’m sure similar scuffles can happen on the training track as well.

The media is now intent on taking either individually  or collectively the MFC out of Finals calculations.

So it will persist for a few weeks until we say lose our next three games and the discord is happening amongst ourselves including Officials.

I'll say it again ,close ranks completely  from now until the end of H Games, or be prepared.

I would hate to think what the umpiring will be like this week.

Makes a nonsense of the Sorrento meeting which agreed that trash talk would be stopped between the players on the back of Vander’s comment, ie respect your teammates. Hogan, Watts, Sylvia were talented players who got moved on supposedly due to the “new” standards/culture. Maysy will need to be very careful, as no matter how good he is as a player, he doesn’t meet the new standards, just listen to Kate Roffey et al, and particularly after the Narrn round, say no more….

The other side here is this might have been the cauldron finally boiling over after weeks or even months of cheap shots, below the belt stuff etc.

I hope this isn't the case and mere speculation on my part but i'm sniffing there may well be deeper longer term issues here (in particular between two team mates or maybe a few more if you include others on the periphery) that finally bubbled to the surface on the Sunday.

If so let's hope they nut it out (or have already done so) as something that might have been bubbling along for some time probably doesn't just "go away" after a bit of a donnybrook.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
