The Heraldsun quotes that there were up to 12 players at the dinner.

The blame and responsibility is on May, but surely some of the other players present would have known he shouldn't have been drinking?

True leadership is another player at the table ensuring May didn't drink, when he may have wanted to.

If the altercation occurred because Melksham was having a go at May for drinking, then I have respect for Melksham.

Can't remember the last time I had dinner with friends and got into a fight after it

Clearly not drinking enough

Hard to know who else was at the dinner. I don’t expect Bowey to tell May not to drink. If Melksham was the only other senior player there and told him to stop drinking or not to have more than one beer say, and May took offense than that explains the “altercation”. Either way it’s a bad look for the club and it has cost May and us.

Yep, and interested as to whether Gawn was there tbh.

Viney wasn't, and he absolutely tore shreds off the playing group when they all met about it. Goody did also, apparently absolutely lost it, but more about the incident rather than directly at players.

Seems everyone wants to get a room with him when he’s killing it on the field. One slip and he’s thrown outta the room and is left to pay the hotel bill.
EASE UP ffs

Every player at the dinner had no problem with May drinking until he got caught.

So…. They can’t exactly be emphasising the high standards.

Given 2 of our older players were there I wouldn’t be surprised if many others in the leadership group were too.

You're drawing big assumptions for having almost no information. You don't know what was going on in the minds of the any other player that was attending the dinner.

Easy to comment from the external and honestly insignificant as well.

It's 2022. Someone will be in possession of a phone that has the "scuffle" on video. Lets see if Mick Warner really does have the inside info on the Dees.

He is a leader of the club. He is 29. He is handsomely paid. He is one of our most important players coming off a concussion as we face 2 losses. There is literally no excuse for his behavior.
I love him and I won’t hold it against him, and yes everyone makes mistakes, but the club and the supporters have every right to be furious about it.
We can hardly afford to have him out for another week. His action might have cost us 4 points which could be the difference between a home final or a double chance come the end of the year.
Big big consequences.

I think we need to wait on some facts first before we start pointing the finer or false praising people.

As we know know both boys were drinking and have had a disagreement over a light-hearted moment.

I don't think that light hearted moment was Melksham telling May to stop drinking..

Club in its first mini crises for quite a while. Tmac down, Bartlett headlines, 2 losses in a row, May gets club suspension.

If they lose on Monday this goes from being a mini crises to a full blown  one. Club officially now in a stress  test…that could get much worse. let’s see what they’ve got.

If we lose a close one against the Pies then May's absence will almost certainly be a contributing factor

And that would make it 3 losses in a row with Brisbane up next

The Pies would be looking on with glee

A suspended sentence, a heavy fine and lots of community service should have been the outcome

Trouble is that the PA have been able to cap the fines at $5k

So a $15k - $20k would really hurt May but that sort of figure can't be enforced

I was deep down hoping that Binman was going to be wrong when he said we would most likely lose to the ferals because of loading, but wow, looking more and more likely now.

Still of course going to go to the game and hope like hell that we can pull it off.

This disaster along with the crap being written in the Feral Hun can only incentivise the playing group. I have a lot of faith in our team culture, which I know sounds a bit ironic right now.  Fingers crossed.

May gets the suspension for drinking while injured which is a big no, no.  It was a repeat offence.  No option but to suspend him.

"Steven and Jake will also complete community service through one of the club's community partners to ensure they understand the responsibility and impact they have as role models within the community".

Penalties look appropriate.

It’s the insulting NAME-CALLING that pisses me off. You’ve made your point without stooping to that low. I only wish others would as well.
Yes, emotions are heightened but there’s no excuse for childish slurs.

Incidentally, you say, “there’s literally no excuse for his behaviour.” You simply cannot say that as an undeniable fact. The only fact here is, YOU DON’T KNOW. YOU WEREN’T THERE.

All we need now is for the 5 second video of Hunt and Brayshaw having what looked like grumpy words in the Syd game, for the media to really go to town and declare: the wheels have fallen off!!

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
