Is there a rule that says the players listed in the published positions on the field must be part of the final squad?   In other words can say Oliver be left out of the final squad and 5 of the so called interchange are then included instead of 4.

i think teams playing on sunday who are forced to nominate a team on thursday have a bit more leeway for changes

our team tonight would have more stringent conditions

Bedford ran and went in really hard last week. He should come in if needed.

He's been quiet in all the VFL games he's played this year.

It's a joke that he's even under consideration.

Melksham had a pretty good game actually. These were his numbers (thanks KC):

  • Jake Melksham: 1 behind 12 kicks 9 handballs 21 disposals 8 marks 4 tackles 80 dream team points

They are pretty good numbers, and the coaching staff would be rapt with 4 tackles as the defensive stuff is his big weakness.

For comparison purposes here are Dunstan's numbers:

  • Luke Dunstan 1 goal 11 kicks 10 handballs 21 disposals 3 marks 3 tackles 81 dream team points

I only really watched the first quarter (and bits an pieces of other qs) and thought he played really well in that quarter. He was our leading possession winner at the end of it, with 8 possessions, his intensity was pretty good, he was very team orientated, and his skills in super windy conditions were sublime. he looked a class above VFL level.

It's why i predicted, accurately as it turns out, he would be on the extended interchange list this week - though i very much doubt he will be selected.

The fact he has been selected on on the extended interchange list this week should be read as affirmation by Goody that he is well and truly on the right track. I think there is a pretty good chance, if he keeps on that track, he'll get call up to the seniors at some point.

We need a vote from all Demonlanders on whether we should auction or go to private sale for the Weridee Mansion!

Proceeds to Demonland to spend on new servers, then acquire a venue for Demonland social club, that can be loaned to MFC!

TMac obviously picked to play Pickett fast running elusive forward flank role, can just see him zipping in and under picking up all Weids  crumbs, and kicking 8!

Can we hold of coz I now can put four Green Townhouses on it., Wait... no I got enough money to plonk a Red Hotel on it straight away and charge anyone who lands on it TOP DOLLAR. Just one question Werridee, what color street should I designate your house on the DEMONOPOLY BOARD?? I can reveal that Uncle Bitter thinks his Manor the Equivalent of Mayfair, but I remain just a tad skeptical! I am Uh also interested in selling a Magnificent parcel of land right on Casey Feilds. In fact it is the same spot behind the fence that I do my training reports from. It would be designated as Old Kent Rd on the DEEMONOPOLY board but I'll take an offer!?

Great. He has to give 100%

Opportunities in the middle are limited.

Maybe he is playing a defined role that he will replicate in the seniors?

Brown should they wont

No he shouldn’t. He is an established senior player who was a performer in a premiership 6 games ago. I don’t know why you are so obtuse and naive with Brown.

Correct so the inters will be Harmes, Jacko, Sparrow and JJ with DUNSTAN to be medi sub!

If the 18 selected are locks for a game and if Dunstan is in as iterated then this bench plus Sub is viable, although I would have thought that Kossy who was brilliant last week stays, Jacko is a given, J.J Played a blinder game before last and Sparrow solid. I now think that if Dunstan is in Sparrow might revert to super medi Sub!

BBB plays. I have a reliable source.

And so he should. He is an incredibly talented player who North lost their minds and let go.

He has also added contested marking to his game and no longer needs to always lead into space to mark.

Last year we saw him come close to what made him top the H and A goal scoring 3 years in a row in a bottom team.

I also think he will get better and we may get another six years out of him and perhaps with our great midfield he will win a Coleman in the not too distant future.

7 pages in, different starting 18 on the AFL website and MFC website, and we won't really know till 5PM.

Much as all basketball matches should start at 90 all and 2 minutes to go, I'm starting to think selections threads should start on the day the real team is released with only hours to go.

Having watched those VFL games he's played he's cooked mate.

Fumbles, got caught with the ball at times and lazy with his defensive ability.

The likes of Chandler, Bedford, Laurie are ahead of him in terms of forms from the VFL games I've seen.

As long as our lucky charm in  Bowey plays,  then so am I.

Well if ever he has a chance with Viney out it is NOW. No pressure to perform, much.😬

If Dunstan is playing another player is out of the side the bloke said he is playing he will be in the 22 I doubt he will be the sub as most subs don’t play like Bedford who has played 1 out of 5

Agree Bedford is ahead of him, as evidenced by the fact he is the go to medi sub.

But you'd have to think he is ahead of Laurie and Chandler as evidenced by the fact he was in the emergencies two weeks ago and will also be an emergency this week.

As far as I recall neither Laurie or Chandler have been emergencies.

No way goody names him on the extended bench this week if he has been playing as badly as you make out.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
