Absolutely spewing Kozzy didn't quite hold onto those marks in the first.  Spectacular attempts and I hope he holds one real soon.

Very impressive win given the backline circumstances but we enjoyed that win all the more from being able to sit in our own seats again and being able to watch the game unfold on the mighty MCG. So many changes going on before our eyes and as mentioned a bit scratchy at times but immense pressure applied by both sides. The only time I really went off was with the umps trying desperately to keep the dogs in the game and Codey Weightman you will burn all credibility if you persist with playing for frees, so glad we took Kozzie instead of you.!!!!

Kudos to the cheersquad last night. I thought the premiership picture looked great on the banner.

I loved how Maxy went to each section of the crowd to applaud them. You can just tell how much they love playing in front of us fans again.

Also Joel Smith played so well, probably his best game ever & rapt for him

To be fair to Cody, Smith's shadow hit him quite hard.

Yeah so last Friday I had a routine mammogram. Monday I got the call no one ever wants to receive: they think they “saw something” on the imagining. Tuesday back to Melbourne Private for anothery. Was told to expect the results Thursday (today). Didn’t tell anyone, loved ones, friends etc., not a soul. Having to tell them the cancer may have returned is actually worse than telling them it has returned. 😞

So, last night I was effectively Schrodinger’s Cat, if you will, in that I had breast cancer and at the same time, I didn’t have breast cancer. 🙃🙂

SOOOO happy and relieved to have just received the all-clear! 🥳

(Almost 😉) as happy and relieved as I was to have watched our beloved Dees do us all proud last night.

Note to self: you may need to take stock of your life. What does it say about you that you tell a motley bunch of randoms on a fan forum the great news before you tell your loved ones??? And “I just happened to be on Demonland when I got the call” ain’t gonna cut it! 😁

My heart goes out to you WCW. I would have preferred to lose last night if it meant you not having this scare.

Apologies if this has been mentioned. The MCG car park was closed last night and there was no public announcement by the club or AFL although I believe the MCC may have advised it’s members.

Traffic was awful, how many bums on seats this cost we’ll never know but I’d assume several thousand would not have found anywhere nearby to park!

That’s poor form

Keeping the beers rolling is a must however and if i was there there's no way you'd be stopping at one.  Bottoms up lassie!

The ‘one beer only’ is non-negotiable. Bad things happen when I drink too much. The last time I overindulged I was one mouse click away from gifting my life savings to a Nigerian Prince. Phew, dodged a bullet that time. However I’m not sure but I think we’re now married. JK. But yeah, one’s plenty for this lassie. 👍🏽

Also being told by the club “not to worry about the seat number, as you can sit anywhere”. Then being told by someone that we’re in their seats

Earlier on Foxtel they had Richmond V Carlton from the 80's and the commentary was brilliant. Close your  eyes and you knew where the ball was on the ground.

This cannot be the measure of commentary for a TELEVISION broadcast. I can see where the ball is, they need to add to that. At the moment most subtract from that.

Martin Tyler was a great commentator of the round ball because he would allow silence, the roar of the crowd, and the vision aide his commentary. They should study that.

We know how to beat the Doggies, and the method is very sound. For those who missed it, Cartoon Character Foghorn Leghorn knew a thing or two about beating the Doggies and this excerpt is Priceless and very very funny!

Watching the replay now and cannot get over the channel 7 commentators. Taylor seems to have changed his method of calling with Angus's uncle doing most of the commentary. Bradshaw gets excited but generally not too bad. Mind you he has credits in the bank with "bang bang bang BANG".

Daisy seems to be making more insightful comments as well.

Would not surprise me that the "higher ups" at 7 have had a word to actually call the game rather than waffle on (Taylor) about the past which is just not so relevant now.

Pleasantly surprised.

Taylor is a moron. Perhaps CH7 is at last waking up and starting to squeeze him out, although they are taking their time about it. Bradshaw is certainly and improvement. the other thing about Taylor is that he is so often factually wrong, and lacks the strategy sophistication of say Daisey, who is exceptional in that area. I really hope they give Daisy a meaningful job next year eg coach the women's team and work with yze on the mens strategy area, with a view to her becoming an assistant coach  with specific game day responsibility. She is a senior coach in the making - maybe even Goody's successor one day!

What a great way to start the season and back in style at the G. The key positives for me were the continuing best in the comp form of Trac, the development of Benny Brown since this time last year and the work of our makeshift defensive 7,. The limited concerns for me was our inability to own the centre clearance, letting the dogs get on a run and the form of Kozzie. Also Jimmy J showed that he can play a more than capable defensive wing role which may be important if we need Angus back more whilst Salem recovers. That’s it now can bask in being 1-0 and one up on a key rival for the next 10 days. Go Dees.

Attempting to save face, was the Bont. Well  beaten, himself and across his team, there ain't much point in remonstrating with the game's stars once the final siren ends your agonies. Sorry Bont, not impressed. As for Trac and Clarry, hope they got a few well-selected words into the opposition captain, as there is a great deal that could be useful to him sometime in the future, albeit modestly and sensitively delivered.

'Carna Dees!

Dont think any of our Leadership Group are bashful when it comes to those sort of conversations, No-one will die wondering is my guess.....

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
