I’ve posted a parcel to Gus. It contains my lucky gold pen. Hope he takes the hint.

And then passes it on to Jacko.

Did anyone else hear the post game comment that Geelong are seriously chasing Gus?

If the MFC cannot get Gus to re-sign then it will be the beginning of the end for the club, and I will start supporting Cats - there, I said it.

Didn't gus basically admit he was going to re-sign a couple of weeks ago?

Actually cancel that - this quote could be interpreted either way:

“I bet you’d like to know. I’m conscious of not giving everyone the headline. But I love the club, I love my teammates. That’s something that will take care of itself.”

It’s annoying coming to the end of the season. Maybe it does not affect the players,  but the on-going speculation over Brayshaw and Jackson I find a major distraction. Unsettling. Yeah I know that’s the way it is, but I hate it.

Geelong are hell bent on never using draft picks ever again.

Free agency get him for nothing and all we get back will be pick after what would have been our first round pick which we all hope will be 18, which will make compensation pick 19

Gus is a Restricted Free Agent, which means we can match any offer for him.

If we did  that and he still wanted to leave, his prospective new club would need to negotiate a trade with us.

While i agree,  could we name several clubs on top of the ladder in the previous twenty years that have experienced notable disruptions to their run ups, of course not. including TWSNBN.

Only Footscray comes to mind with Boyd, I think it was.

Another unnecessary distraction. Surely Gus knows what he wants to do by now.

Really frustrating, and frankly I am getting fed up with players who have it all, playing for a well run club, with a chance to win more flags, and still stuffing about with contracts.

This is what makes Clarry that extra special. He could literally go to any club, get paid a million dollar a year or more (probably 10 million a year at North), but instead he signed a year out to avoid any sort of rubbish conversations about his contract.

Get on with it Gus!

maybe i'm just a romantic dreamer....

....but maybe gus is doing the club a favour by waiting for dogga to sign. if he signs gus may take a lower contract for the sake of another premiership tilt. if dogga doesn't sign then gus can go for what he wants/deserves

I highly doubt these contracts are related. Gus will be given what he is worth and what we can afford, regardless of Jackson.

If Jackson goes we need to find money to get another ready made ruck to help Gawn, unless we want to send Gawn to an early grave.

Its highly likely Gus has some kind of arrangement that will give the club flexibility in dealing with the Dogga situation while not disadvantaging himself..

Oliver is an absolute gem. He’s hard, loves the club, plays second fiddle to Tracc and Gawn in the medias eyes and is our best player a minimum 15 weeks a year, every year.

I firmly believe he will go down in history as the greatest Melbourne player ever. We are blessed to have him, and I hope all our supporters appreciate how special he is.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

Some veteran Demonland Trackwatchers ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you the following observations from another Preseason Training Session. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
