No pressure at all being applied there - Luke Dunstan I think needed to go a bit harder re the spoiling attempt

Whilst true that Dunstan should have applied more spoiling pressure it appears as if both Weid and Mitch Brown were left alone in the square. Having no idea what the drill is here it is extremely difficult to make any accusations on a tiny clip with zero context. Having said that ... Where are the key defenders? Salem seems to be minding Brown which is a mismatch and Dunstun (a mismatch for Weid - maybe that's the point) is coming in with the flight of the ball. It doesn't appear that he would have been Weideman's opponent but sure he should have applied a bit more pressure.

Well   The club must just do it again. Only so all the doubters can be assured that the mighty ducks.  Sorry. Dees are indeed the best team in the land. But I concede your question. To win in WA when I was not there,  did it really happen or was I dreaming

In fact, the club will have to do it another six times. NASA had men land on the moon six times and there are still disbelievers out there.

It's bloody pleasure to hear him speak to the media this year. We have more than a few quality speakers at the club and whilst I can be a bit of a language snob surely clearer communication must make it easier for the leaders of the club to really convey their thoughts to the younger lads and generally fire everyone up and inspire confidence. Rewatched Making their Mark recently and looking at the stunned mullets in the Richmond meetings and inability to really say anything at all apart from the word 'obviously' (which according to 90% of AFL footballers belongs in every single sentence) made me very proud of the likes of ANB, Trac, Lever, Gus and even Gawny despite his self confessed lack of vocabulary. Even our less confident speakers like Oliver seem far more switched on compared to a lot of other players out there.

Mind you i'm not completely one eyed, i'm aware the likes of Bont, Sloane, Riewoldt, Hawkins etc etc etc speak extremely well, I just think we have more than our fair share of really switched on footy brains

Hopefully I can get another training report in on Friday, but it might be my last for a while😳

Nibbler speaks SO well! He is a great communicator. He illustrates the mind set of the group really well.

Yes, noticed he and Koz sprinting forward to provide an option or to apply pressure. It was unrewarded running but I saw this a bit last year and they don't care if they are used/involved... the definition of selfless! They will go and go again because it's the one time in 20 that what they do rewards the team by them being there. Pickett in particular would be a joy to coach, appears to really listen and implement what the Coaches are telling him, while the Coaches give him permission to take things on when he thinks he should. No ego, just confidence and a willingness to do whatever is required for team success.

When you have 19 and 20yr olds doing this, that's culture!

One thing I loved about playing footy was doing and seeing the unrewarded running especially into defensive 50.  As you said de, the guys at this age and with Dog teef doing it at his height is something to behold.

One of the best footy action photos of all time imo.  Wallpapered on my pc, framed in my mind.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
