Free rapid antigen tests, widely available at chemists and a change to the Queensland Queen’s entry requirements, will slash the testing queues dramatically.

PS. Her latest offering that Queensland hospitals should only be for Queenslanders, is just another moronic bit of dribble from her mouth.

You would pay $15 for a test if it meant not lining up for a couple of hours.  Just need government to change the rules for casual contacts to use Antigen tests.

The bottom line is we have made the decision to live with the virus, we have done everything we can to protect ourselves(well 92% of the population has) we just need to get our yearly boosters like the flu shot and try to minimise the deaths and hospitalisation.  The only number we need to watch it people in Hospital and ICU, as long as that can be manged we live life as normal.

The QLD and WA premiers have never been more popular, they will keep saying stupid stuff as they believe this is what their population wants to here.  You watch the WA bloke change his tune if he doesn't open up in Feb, all of the sudden WCE and Freo will be forced to relocate to the east coast no footy is WA, he is already copping it losing the ashes not sure if Basketball and Soccer teams have relocated, I know the Scorchers have.

I’ve thought the same thing about McGowan. His popularity lives and dies on the AFL. He’ll fold like a deck of cards when the AFL says no football for WA.

It’s just populist nonsense. He’s got the Nullarbor plain to thank for his popularity.

You would hope the person that had it didn't know they had it & I hope they weren't waiting for there result but decided to still go anyway.

Its amazing we had 35000 at the G & got through unscathed but couldn't stop it appearing at the B&F

The B & F was indoors.

Negative. Cool.

Players and supporters were not supposed to mix but a couple of people at my table took some selfies with several players, so if you were willing to push it you could get access.

I did not try to seek out any of the current list. I did share a urinal visit with Beamer and Trapper who were comparing their games records during their respective times at Brisbane  so I could have mixed with a couple of former players, but opted not to be a fan boy, especially with what we had in our hands at the time.

You took the premiership cup into the urinal?

That was an ugly turn, I agree, but having seen it I thought keep it! Build some suspense.

Latest news is that all those at my table were negative so the premiership celebrations continue!

Yep all negative here at Control, party rolls on.

Not sure though about the Kaos crew.

While that's true surely they can have a cutoff so people don't waste time waiting in line if they're going to shut up shop before they finish testing everyone there

That is happening in some places that I know of (well, three specifically - two that I was turned away from and then the third put up their 'closed' signs shortly after I got there). They were, however, relying a bit on the honour system because random people were definitely adding themselves to the end of the queue after those signs went up. What was really noticable was that the testing location we were able to get tested at only had two staff, and they were covering all testing and then all prep of test paperwork to then be picked up by courier. At least they were getting to alternate between sitting in the office and standing outside in the marquee, but I couldn't help but think that one extra person could have made the whole thing twice as fast.

It blows my mind that ALL state governments are being stingy on the staffing at so many of these critical bottlenecks. It doesn't add up but that's what you get from silo/bucket budget planning.

I’m flying to QLD (hopefully) on Thursday. [censored] premier wants me tested because the hell with loading an already overloaded system that should be freed up for those who are symptomatic or close contacts… how long has everyone waited for results if they got a test done after attending the B&F?

I worry that 72 hours won’t be enough to test, get results and then apply and receive the border pass.

You might want to check the terms. I have a friend who has only been tested today, and said he could home quarantine in QLD until he gets the results.

I know someone who was leaving today and as of this morning still hadn't received their test back. The rest of the family has theirs.

When did they get tested?

Why is going on holidays so stressful now? Bloody moronic premiers.

Slightly more than the 72 hours required. ie: 3 days before.

4 members of the family all tested at exactly the same time and all received theirs back at different intervals.

The whole scenario is farcical. Asymptomatic testing is clogging an already overwhelmed system and testing 72 hours prior does not account for the 71 hours afterwards. Rapid tests on departure or arrival would be more accurate although can you imagine the lines/wait at the airport.

There’s worse to come.

We made it into Queensland (which means we queued last week for 1½ hours before we flew out 3 days later). Yesterday, we had to go through the same process in a long line outside a pathology lab on the Gold Coast with hundreds of others, mostly masked but minimal social distancing. The State’s resources are so stretched that the police minister said they would struggle to enforce the testing requirement and that it was virtually an honour system. There’s not only an enormous strain on resources but it places every one who goes at risk of catching it anyway and people who should be tested are missing out. It’s a bloody mess.

Yeap “we’re open for Xmas! Come and support our tourism industry….”

I've got a mate who is over 70 hours now without a result. He Rang the DHSS and they are not open on weekends or public holidays so he could easily crack the ton.

  • PREGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

With their season all over bar the shouting the Demons head back on the road for the third week in a row as they return to Adelaide to take on the Crows. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road again and this may be the last roll of the dice to get their 2025 season back on track as they take on the Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
