Well done to the club. This will never replace the joy of seeing this happen live, and hopefully we can experience that in 2020, but it was a wonderful experience nonetheless.

I turned to my mum and said "should I get one? Rd 1, Anzac Eve, and Queens Birthday!"

She's like, 60 dollars. I'm a bit tight for money right now.
I'm like, mum, you're not spending anything. And also, this year I bought tickets for three games for you, and it cost $150 all up - and the MFC didn't get a dime (or a membership number) out of it. I think it's a pretty good deal."

"Hmm Ok then!"

Where is it $60? Just checked the membership website and a 3 game membership is $112.

A very special day today. I was able to take my nephews (4 & 6) to the MCG for the first time. Although I suspect they were more interested in munching down on their hot pies and hot dogs. But it will be a moment i'll look back on and celebrate with my family and 35,000 loyal Demon supporters who all share our deep love for the club and it's players. I think everyone had a tear in their eye when Neale Daniher received a standing ovation and later there was a Gawny chant echoing out around the ground which brought a lot of joy and entertainment. The club put on a great show for us all today, and i'm so glad we got to at least share a bit of that experience and piece of history together.

G'day Sam.  Yep Bally, Ross, Ollie & Vince from Sassafras!  A few others whose names escape me.  Often half drunk pre-match coming from the Hilton or the Royal before the game had even started....with a six pack under the wing for good measure.

Liver, feet & lungs sure got a workout in those days.  Fun times apart from too many bad losses.  But any feelings were mostly well & truly numbed by half time and completely brain dead at the final siren 😄

Good to hear from you. I was at the G today so were Ross & Ollie. They were somewhere on level one. Not sure if Vince was there. But I'm sure he'll be there for the season opener against the Bulldogs as will the rest of them. Drop by. Cheers

Very happy with how the day went - just like I'd expected, in fact, probably even better. With this kind of thing, it's easy to think of all of the 'what ifs' but if you can take it for what it is, it's pretty special. Apart from anything else, a true one-off (hopefully!).

Best of all was seeing so many enthusiastic Demons of all ages but especially the kids. About 5-10 years ago, there was a real visible slump in kids and teens attending, and I still get a real kick out of seeing them a bit more abundant and proud of their colours since 2018ish.

When Kate Roffey said "What other club would get 30,000+ at a GF re-watch", I was scoffing a bit, thinking of other, larger supporter bases. But actually, when you think about it, it's pretty impressive given what the event actually entailed, the amount of time that has passed and all the obstacles thrown up around it. And the vibe was great.

So grateful to have been able to experience this with my family and my Demon family too. More tears of pride, and for those who couldn't be there.

And I think I'm now ready to say: Bring on 2022!

And we need to remember, due to COVID, this had to be a ticketed event, albeit free tickets.  As a result, unlike the days when supporters could just walk into the premiers home base for a celebration, our event was phenomenal given current circumstances.

Am I right in saying that the children that presented the medals were children of past players? because I heard Gaz say Neita's daughter was presenting and I think she gave Spargo his medal.

Not all of them were because I never played a game for the Dees... ;)

Other than seeing kate on the field and a brief mention by Gary  I dont think she spoke today. Interesting concept a president not being heard

Enjoyed it thoroughly. The tribute to Neale was fantastic and fitting.

Would have loved to see the players get a bit more involved in the day though. Could have had them and the coaching staff comment on key moments throughout the replay, a few fun competitions etc.

Cant wait for 2021.

I timed my run beautifully, got to my seat a minute or so before Gus took the mark and put us in front.

Had great seats down near the boundary and the club did a great job getting the past players involved. Particularly loved seeing Junior McDonald there, Schwarta, Wiz, Neitz, Febey (not sure which one?) and of course the Rev. Trav Johnstone looked like he was having a good day, I also saw Tingay, Newport, Green, Steve Smith, Strawbs O'Dwyer, Greg Healy and a bunch of others I've forgotten to mention.

There was one player I couldn't pick though, was wearing number 9 in a late 90s/early 2000s iPrimus jumper which wouldve been the era Neitz wore it. Looked to young to be Alan Johnson so not sure who it was anyone have an idea?

It was a really good day put on by the club, much better than I expected. I saw some kids towards the end of the replay getting a bit bored so was glad I left mine at home.

Lots of talk around doing it again in 2022, going back to back etc let's hope the club can build off this and create a dynasty with this list.

Wow Dr, thanks for that. Some of my all-time favorite Dees players.

Stinga Tingay was a star in the making before the glass door incident.

The Strawbs punch on in Canada(?)

Sugar Healy...

Nice.

How many tears can a 55 year Dees supporter cry? Not through sadness, but unbridled joy. Neale Daniher is a marvel and will always be in Melbourne's heart of hearts. Every heart beats true, but none stronger and longer than Neale Daniher. Always Melbourne Neale.https://twitter.com/melbournefc/status/1467354480521801730

Wow, that's amazing.

Thanks to every Melbournian/Victorian who was there to cheer for Neale. You guys are bloody incredible.

President schmesident.

They are not in the same league as a CEO/Coach/Captain, or any player who was on the ground.

In fact, our assistants and the entire scouting/recruiting/list management team are more worthy of attention.

Duuuuuuude, thanks so much for posting that.

Stuck up here in north Queensland (lol, I know, its hard to live in Airlie Beach), and relying on you southerners for a report. That brought me closer than I ever thought I would get. Magnificent video.

Feels like being there.

Wow.

I would have thought it would be a 50/50 proposition at this stage however the club just posted this.

There's me. Last arm holding the phone above the cup :) (The bald head guy below my arm was a dickers supporter)

Hopefully everyone had a good day today.

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
