The following top 10 picks I think are more gettable than the others:

Pick 5: currently at Adelaide, on the way to GC who seem keen to spread their list with future picks

Pick 7: at GC, on the way with Bowes, possibly open to Ess or Geel downgrades. Bombers need more picks, Geel could use more to get trades done

Pick 8: at Port, possibly on the way to North who could do better with multiple picks to restock their list

Pick 9: St Kilda, think they’ll value multiple picks to restock their youth

With 3 of those picks set to move hands I don’t think a Jackson deal will be quick if we want to make sure a top 10 pick comes with it

Correct. it will be one of the last to drop unfortunately.

New trade fantasy because I'm bored.

Essendon receive Bowes and pick 7 from GC.

Eagles trade picks 2 and 20 to the Bombers for picks 4 and 7

Melbourne trade Jackson and 33 to Eagles for picks 4 and future 1st.

Melbourne recieve: Pick 4, Eagles F1

Melbourne lose: Jackson, 33

West Coast receive: Jackson, pick 7

West Coast lose: pick 2 and 20, Future 1st

Essendon receive: 2, 20 and Bowes

Essendon lose: 4, 7

(Waste of time I know as he's going Freo but Eagles haven't been ruled out yet.)

Depends on what order we want to do things. If we’re confident we can eventually shuffle picks around we might accept the Jackson deal early.

GWS just got picks 12 and 19 for Taranto. You can argue we wont get as good a deal as that for Jackson.

Taranto 3 yo , no rising star , smaller pay packet. Not comparable at all.

Surely the Horne-Francis business teaches usone very plain fact: draft picks are unreliable. Getting, for example, pick number three does not give you a player is good as Jackson; it gives you the hope of getting a player is good as Jackson. I believe he should be traded for a proven player of high-quality and possibly draft picks as well.

Agree they are not comparable but not in the way you mean

6"2' proven gun mid, BnF winner, 15 votes in the Brownlow last year. Future leader, can go fwd and kick goals.

LJ's worth is largely on what he might become due to his physical attributes (and playing some great games for us)

Interesting concept. I don’t mind it, but who can we target. LJ is still 20.
Young Brayshaw is the only one who sticks out for me

Ultimate test of worth is what Freo is going to pay Jackson, so far as what has been speculated on there respective contracts Jackson’s deal is for more. So we should be expecting Freo to match the Taranto deal and then some

Part of our Jackson booty will be used for Grundy. The best part for young talent. Talk is an early 2nd rounder will get Grundy done so an early 1st rounder should give us some good options.

A good KPF as an early draftee would a good choice for list/age balance.

Edmund said today around 700k/5yrs. But anywhere from 700k/5yrs-$1mil/8yrs has been floated around.

Taranto was 750k/7yrs so probably similar. Unpopular opinion maybe but I think taranto is worth more. He's only 24 and has a b&f to his name and is just about to hit his peak. Jackson is all about size and potential which he isn't guaranteed to reach.

I don't think it will happen but anything better than 13 and F1 with nothing going back would be a pleasant surprise. I have low hopes for this trade.

Agree 100% couldn't have put it any better. I know which one I'd be chasing if I had that cash and draft picks and it wouldn't be Jackson. Taranto and Hopper are seriously good and make the Tigers a real weapon again. They lacked grunt inside but have smarts in spades across the ground....deadly combo once you add the grunt

What's the evidence we paid overs for Lever? A complete myth. Amongst other wins for us out of the deal, we welcomed Petty to Melbourne and secured an all Australian and key Premiership player. We are asking for a similar exchange for Jackson.

Freo being drunk during trade period..

This was always going to be their starting point. What more do they have to offer with what they've got? I suspect we'll get more thrown in there from the Logue trade.

Onto West Coast we go.

Yep soz Luke but I give precisely 0 [censored] about your desire to land at Fremantle. Should have stayed put. Now you can go to a bottom 2 side.

I think we'll get two first rounders between picks 10 and 20 for Jackson.

If you listen to Matt Rendell who's familiar with list management and trading, he states that the best and most professional clubs such as Geelong look for a win-win for both clubs as opposed to "I'm winning this trade and you're losing it". Clubs need to maintain a good reputation if they want to get a big trade done down the line.

Geelong purchase a player at a commensurate price (eg - Cameron) and don't try and rip off the vendor when they trade out a player.

My impression of our club is that we fit in the Geelong bracket of fair dealings, and therefore I'm not expecting a huge windfall from the LJ trade.

We are also hamstrung by the fact that he's out of contract and had a poor season.

But in the two picks in the 10-20 range deal , we’d be the ones getting ripped off.

If Freo had the picks I’d happily settle for something like 5-8 + 15-20. If LJ was a midfielder I’d probably care less on the combo, but any KPF worth a look won’t be available after pick 10.

Yeah agree that's total nonsense. The future first might have been slightly questionable at best.

Lever has finished top 10 in our best and fairest 1 in five years and finished 19th this year

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
