What goes around comes around

I'm sure there'll be Vic players on the Freo list that will want to come home so it would be short sighted of Freo not to be reasonable dealing with us

The majority of the their midfield is from Victoria, including their emerging star ruckman.

I agree with you, but Peter Bell seems not to be a reasonable.

Peter Bell he is not always unreasonable ... just drives a hard bargain.  As we should do with Freo re Jackson

As for negotiating with Bell, in the end, we came out way in front with the Langdon deal ... effectively he came for a 2nd round pick.  Last 2 years in the conversation for AA honours

And the Hogan deal turned up trumps which delivered us May & Sparrow via picks 6 & 22

Heard from a reliable source the following: Luke Jackson’s family is pushing for him to move back to WA. Specifically, his mother, who wants him back in WA. Freo may not be able to get the deal done, but the family’s preference is for him to play for Freo and not West Coast. They are heavy in the ear of his manager. It seems the decision to head home is not entirely Luke’s. Take it or leave it. The source is pretty solid though

Family comes first. If they want him to head home then there must be a very good reason why. Hopefully the club and freo can get a satisfactory deal done and we can all move on

No, I haven’t bothered to read this thread for weeks. If it has been mentioned elsewhere here, my apologies. That may suggest that the info is fairly solid then, as this source has been in the past.

The club should be commended with the way it has handled the possible exit of LJ.  We've acted like pro's all the way through and there has not been an element of distraction

And Jackson the same.  In recent weeks he has taken on more responsibility on the field and if he is on the move, it doesn't show

So much so that he is going to be hard to replace if he does go.  I'm hoping for a stalemate with regards to a trade.  Which may lead to him re-signing with us

I don't see a problem with us overvaluing LJ.  The possible deal looks like it's more so with Freo but if it is West Coast as an alternate, they've got pick 2 in the ND (plus some extra's)

I have also heard that Luke Jackson is in debt to a Pokémon trading card dealer and the only way he can get out of his debt is to go to WA.

We must have the same mail.

Having some connections through my brother over there this doesn't surprise me. I really hope he's thinking long and hard about this one as history has shown moving to Freo is a poison chalice.... other than the money you earn.

He will instantly be their highest paid player and if he doesn't perform the fans will become feral. Not sure he is ready to take on that type of burden but time will tell.

I've been thinking about this and more than anything I hope for Luke's sake he doesn't go to Fremantle.  I'm not sure the culture at that club is all that healthy, evidenced by Hogan's experiences, and Langdon also doesn't seem like he had a happy time there.  Hogan's experiences in particular haunt me - I don't know if it was poor treatment towards him by the club, or other issues, but clearly a move home was not good for him, and he himself has stated he regrets leaving Melbourne.  And yes, the things Freo fans say about Hogan is horrible.  I don't want the same thing to happen to Luke, I really don't.  I would much prefer for him to stay at a club where it seems he is happy, and he is being well looked after.  Because he doesn't seem like a guy that possesses a lot of street smarts.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti
