Do you have a pretty unattached sister, in her late teens, who likes 20 year old WA ruckmen, who wear headbands?

I'm with you BDA, few things top success at a footy club.

I don't think a pick around 14 can be considered enough, no matter what it's packaged with.

I would have thought he is worth conservatively, a pick in the top 5 or maybe up to 7 at worst and then a back of first round pick as well ie 16-20. But pick 14 as the best they're offering is a disaster for us and should not be entertained.

wishful thinking or I may be in denial but what if the club has asked Luke to wait until seasons end ?

We may have some moves in the air that will allow us to pay the price he is happy with -

it may see a player retired or moved on to make room .

Yes, whatever anyone can do to keep Luke Pleeeease!
I think he's a generational player (and never thought Hogan was remotely close to that) and Luke has a great future.

He seems like a ripping young bloke. If he does leave I'll wish him well and boo him in total jest when we play Freo. I will say the club has done us all proud with the way it has handled the whole thing, likewise with Yze.

What a difference a bit of success makes, we can even wish someone who turns their back on us "all the best".  Each to his own.

However IF HE LEAVES FOR FREO I'll not wish him all the best and I'll forever think of him as being disloyal to a club that did everything for him.  We used pick 3 on what many was thought to be a speculative pick.  It was a gamble and a huge investment.  He came to a great well run club with a culture second to none.  He trained with the best - Maxy.  We coached him to a rising star.  We put a premiership medal round his neck.  We've treated him exceptionally well and with dignity.  Our reward?  See ya later boys and by the way, I want to go to Freo where your chances of getting reasonable compensation is much less than if I went to WCE where pick 2 would be part of the deal. But I'm sorry, I'm homesick.

Sorry, that doesn't wash with me and whilst others might accept it "because he's a nice kid" I won't.

Compare that with Scully, the boy who was and stilll is vilified by this site.  He came to a totally dysfunctional club. We had a split in the FD the size of the Grand Canyon.  We had no culture, we had no professionalism and the players had no ambition.  We treated him appallingly.  We had every man and his dog at the club constantly asking him what he was doing and we put him in front of the media on multiple occasions to face questions about his future.  We even asked him to stay for our sick President.  He got a grandfather offer from a new club, an offer no other club would match and he wanted out after what he saw and what we did to him.  And he had specific illnesses in the family that he wanted to provide for. Any manager would have told him to go.  He did and we paid out on a kid we'd done nothing for when he made a sound professional decision.  And guess what, he was right to take it because he wasn't all that good as a footballer and the money he got was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

But we vilified him anyway because he was someone we were falsely told could carry us to success and he disappointed us.  So for me Jackson is disloyal because he leaves a great club for little reason.  Scully left a dysfunctional club for good reason.

And to finish.  If Freo offer peanuts I'd have no hesitation of saying no, Jacko can go into the PSD.  He'll end up at WCE and if that's our position Jacko why don't we deal with WCE because if we don't you may end up at NM.  Jackson's trade is the same as Dangerfield, Kelly, Judd and Cameron.  He's being offered as much by Freo meaning they value him at that level.  You can't have it both ways.  Give us something really meaningful or you just don't get him.  Over to you.

That said, we won’t be able to stop him if he wants to leave and, if that’s the case, what’s a meaningful trade for Jacko?

Pick 10 (back from dogs) plus pick 14 (Freo) plus Josh Treacy or Lloyd Meek

I think this is a fair and reasonable outcome for both parties.

If we have to accept later first round picks, i'd want them in this years draft.

Personally I think that’s a highly romanticised take in the contemporary context, but that’s just me.

Obviously, I’d love for him to stay - so here’s to the romantics!

Maybe but still, it's a hard thing to walk out on!

Just remember the journos that reported it’s a fait accompli Jackson goes to freo are the same ones that said Yze was going to GWS and Clarko was seriously considering Essendon.

He looks genuinely happy and entrenched in the team… I wonder how much effect the bond with the playing group has on his decision. You’d think Gawn would have his finger on the pulse better than anyone and him saying he’s confident is enough for me to think he’s a chance at staying.

But the realest in me knows he will go home eventually and it’d be hard to sign a shorter term deal with us when you’re always only a minute away from a career ending injury. No way you leave $10m on the table.

I have it good authority that I have no idea

given this, I am certain LJ will sign a 3 year deal after we win the flag

his mum is cool with it. She’s gonna take an Alaskan cruise with the old man

Two top ten picks plus a decent player with other possible positional changes. This would give the club the opportunity to secure a ruck replacement and a tall key forward to cover future needs as compensation for such a talented young star.

It seems the week off comes just in time to jump start tired old fantasies .

What's better than lots of cash and a Premiership medallion?

Going home with two medallions and a truckload of cash

Herald Sun reporting re Izak Rankine:-

“Gold Coast would ask for multiple high picks for Rankine — possibly the Crows’ pick 5 and a second-round selection.”

Dogga is worth a lot more.

The Weed?

2 First round picks are the minimum we are asking for.. and one of those has to be top 10. In reality i think it will be one the is year and a future first plus a player in the mix.

Our first pick is in the 30s i think... if we dont get a high first round pick.. we have given him away.

Sorry but that would not be a good deal for us IMO.

Compare  mine as a minimum. Treacy, Meek and a top 5 pick that guarantees us Cadman or Jefferson.

If we also get Grundy, we have then hopefully solved our key forward and ruck issues for the next several years.

You add Treacy and Cadman/Jefferson, to JVR and still have BBB and Tom for another year or two. You extend Max’s career using Grundy more of the time and gave him fresh for finals and have Meek as the backup.

If we do get Grundy, we may prefer another player or pick instead of Meek. Could then use that pick in the draft or on a trade or to improve next years pick in a suggested better draft.

We could then rookie another ruckman as the backup.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
