i have no information either way on this front, however it simply doesn’t make sense for him to leave. 

Simply because he hasn't signed yet. The CBA isn't a real excuse for not signing as they can put it in the contract that any % in crease in player salaries will be adjusted in the salary. So I think it's concerning. 

If his heart lies with his family over success and his teammates, then he isn’t destined to be a great player. Hogan chose family and that didn’t turn out. Kelly at West Coast would be absolutely loving life wouldn’t he? 
 

At the end of the day to be a great player takes more than just skills and talent. It takes heart and a steely focus. If Jackson chooses to leave at 20 years of age because the lure of family is too great, when he has a lifetime ahead of him to be with his family and friends, than that is absolutely his choice. But I can’t and won’t lose sleep over players choosing to leave a club like ours right now. We will do a lot better without Jackson than Jackson will do without us.

looking at it that way I am not unhappy if we get 2x top 5 picks for him, and maybe a 2nd rounder also or a player attached. you are right we will be able to still be dominant without him, and get paid handsomly to do so

If Luke wants to hold us over a barrel and ask for a massive pay day for a 3rd year player and thus compromise our ability to re-sign Oliver - one of the MFC’s best ever midfielder, then we shake his hand, thank him for his brief service at the club and seek the best compensation.

As Matthew Richardson commented,  the money that’s been mooted for LJ should be reserved for players that rip an entire game apart, not for a cameo here and there, or a strong quarter within an otherwise quiet game which is quite common for Jackson at this stage of his career.

I'm not sure WC will be willing to pay the price...they are going into rebuild and 1 player is not going to do it for them.

They will need a solid draft hand to build the list back up and spending their capital on Jackson doesn't add up.

Let’s see how we function today without him.

I am waiting for LJ to actually say something on the subject. You can tell he loves his teammates, so it will be a huge decision to walk away, considering what we may achieve in the next 4-5 years

Clubs down the bottom tend to go to the draft for a rebuild and once the list has a base of young talent they then go for established players. Eg we drafted heavily and then went for Lever and May.

I do not think Jackson will on on West Coast radar for the moment.

What? He’s 21 and a chance to be the best player in the game in about 3 years time. He is exactly the type to rebuild around.

Agreed, It's hard to se West Coast wanting to part with any high end draft picks, and it's hard to see any players they have that would interest us. 

Fremantle is a bit similar in that it'd likely take a combination of players and picks to get a deal done, and they're obviously pretty happy with how they're tracking

If we find out at the end of the year he wants to go to Freo it puts a very different light on their request for him for Cerra last year and Lobbe wanting to leave would have opened up the position and money for him. Now Freo have nothing to offer and he’s out of contract so we have a lot less to bargain with. Having said that personally I can’t see him going at the end of the year. We are in too much of a window for at least a 3 year contract extension. But weirder things have happened.

Which sums up why WC would be utterly insane to throw massive numbers at him with the legitimate intent to sign him.

None of it makes sense to me at all. They'd have to part ways to 2x top 10 picks and a pretty big chunk of salary gap space. If they were pushing for finals and their window then fair enough but Eagles are looking at years at the bottom. They are way too top heavy on the experience scale. Their fans seems to think they will turn it around quickly but it ain't the 90s anymore.

Agree wholeheartedly with this.

Please someone wake me up when there is some real news on his contract. 

We are not getting two top 5 picks for Jackson. We may get a top 3 pick and some change - if you don’t think that any club would pay that for someone who may become the best player in the game - you are not paying attention. 

Try to enjoy the year but convincing yourself clubs are not going to go after him hard is misguided and weird.

It's hard to imagine Luke wanting to go to West Coast. They are a rabble. 

And Freo already has an A grade ruckman.

Mark my words* ... he will sign up to the Dees for a 2 year extension. I may have already posted this prediction ..
