I thought after the storm lost it could be a bad day especially during the 3rd quarter.

Hey media it didn't matter that we only played 1 game in 28 days.

Also libba & weightman were barely seen. We did well to hold some of there good players

Game was absolutely beyond my wildest dreams.

Scored 100 points to their 7 since half way through 3rd when they up 59-40

Last two games after half time...

Prelim - 10 goals to 1

Grand Final - 16 goals to 3

GO DEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The analysis will come (there is so much reading and re-watching to come), but I'm coming around to the thought now that when all is said and done, the 2021 Melbourne season will go down as one of the greatest seasons of AFL football in recent memory.

Only 4 losses, blowing three of the next four best sides in it off the park in our finals, and doing it all through a pandemic away from home.

Didn't you know the Bulldogs had it tougher?

How about that '@Macca'?

Never thought we were going to see the day (or night as it turns out)...

It has sunk in but I'm a bit lost for words rjay.  But anyway ...

Just posted on 'ology about the crowd support in the stadium.  Demons everywhere and the WA folk have done exceptionally well

They should be rightfully proud of themselves.  What a great country we live in where others can take up the slack like the Western Australians have

We will forever remember how they embraced our team and our victory

And well done to the WA people here on this site.  You guys did a mighty job.  Kudos

As for the team, others are saying it for me ... like, love & thanks emoji's comin' your way!

I haven't cried yet, but I reckon when the noise dies down and the family goes to bed, a few tears might fall over a wee Glenfiddich. I have waited so long and feel so calm and happy.

I'm Stund, my wife can't understand why I'm quite right now words can't describe this feeling, we have really Been to Hell and back as a club this is unbelievable. GO DEES 🔴🔵🔴🔵

Someone needs to put a premiership scarf or t shirt on the Jim Stynes, Norm Smith & Ron barrassi statues

I am too scared to go to sleep for fear I will wake up  tomorrow and it will all  have been a dream.

I've heard it's impossible to win if you've only played one game in a month. Can better judges tell me if there's something to this?

Incredible day/night.

Genuinely never believed I’d see it. Go you good things

Well done to the boys in red and blue.  From the bottom of my heart, thankyou.

We smashed every top team that came at us.

So so so proud of those lads

Pinch me I'm dreaming

What a second  half.  Just amazing

I started crying with about 6 minutes to go.  I’ve seen this club live up to every stereotype about us on so many occasions I should have logically walked away years ago.

So I didn’t just cry because we were going to win the Premiership, I cried because I watched this group of players decide that they no longer believe any of the preconceived perceptions mattered. That 3rd quarter was the moment they shattered the mould, and decided to make their own history. That’s so hard to do. I’m so proud.

Daniel was good, but no way he deserved a vote.

He was never going to get votes but I just can’t stress enough how Jackson changed the game by going into the middle.

Channel 7s coverage was great,

Then they put Tom Browne on camera...🤦‍♂️

They were trying to get him off the camera just then I reckon.

He comes in and says "I spoke with Gary Pert on the ground, he was telling me about how in a minute Garry Lyon is going to hand us the premiership cup".

That is zero insight, that's just a waste of space talking himself up.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
