I don’t know any Bulldogs supporters.  (I remember a boy in primary school barracking for Footscray. That was in 1957 and I haven’t seen or heard of him since 1962.)
Who are these Bulldogs supporters? And what are they like?

Feel free to exercise all your favourite cliches and biases in an effort to enlighten me.

Some of them are filth! The first game I ever took my son to at the Etihad/Marvel a Bulldogs supporter king hit a Demons supporter much older than him, over a petty argument that had been started by his drunkenness. I asked him to leave the family area and he refused, in the minutes leading up to his cowardly punch. After their scummy attack on our Demons shrine in their territory, I want to bury the bastards in the Grand Final!

Well. They used to stand behind our Cheer Squad a few years ago and try to start fights whenever they were beating us. I have no love for the Bulldogs. They are just ruff!

Anyway I wrote to the club to demand a Demon destruction of the Bulldogs in response! Nothing less will do! Try to channel Will Minson’s cocky face a few years ago if you need incentive to bury them! These clowns have rubbed our nose in our losses frequently over the last 10 years or so!

Many of them these days are hipster folk who live in and around Footscray. Gentrification will do that.

I remember us beating them at Whitten Oval to make the finals.  Garry kicked a bag.  Great times.

most doggies fans seem ok, although every team has its nuffies.

btw, that lady who damaged the Dees property, did she get caught yet? (Speaking of nuffies)

There are clearly two households a couple of streets from my house.  They were decked out with scarves and balloons on Saturday.

I believe it is a permissible breach of curfew laws to sneak around and pop the white balloons.

Got a few family and friends who are Dogs supporters. They were pretty much the first (non Dees supporting) ones to message me about us making the Grand Final saying how rapt they were. The ones I know are genuinely happy for Dees fans, I guess because they know about waiting and waiting for success.

Met a Western Bulldogs supporter on Saturday evening in Perth. He was equally happy as myself about our teams making Grand Final. He was in his mid 50s, similar to myself and had been through plenty of down times following his club.

Decent people in my experience and one of the better supporter groups going around.  They know what it's like to nearly lose their club, and had a wait longer than our current one for their 2016 flag.  Small in number, big in voice.  In 1987, when they would've been devastated after missing out on the five themselves, most were very happy for Robbie and the Demons.  I remember a number of conversations after that game and on the train on the way home with Bulldog fans who really hoped we'd go deep into the finals.  I've never had had any issues with them in the 34 years since.

I’ve got quite a few bulldogs friends, all pretty good supporters in that I don’t feel like they gloat a lot. They got a little lippy after their premiership win but never to the arrogance of the cats or hawks.

I'm not sure I know any in person, but there are a few celebrity supporters including the aforementioned Julia Gillard and Chris Hemsworth. There's also Wil Anderson, Shane Jacobson and I think Mark Seymour from Hunters and Collectors. And the late Ernie Sigley. And now I'm done.

Gillard has admitted she only became a Bulldog's supporter becuase she felt compelled to do so when she went to work at Slater and Gordon when Peter Gordon was still there. (That's not to suggest she's not genuine in her support. Unlike Paul Keating who claimed once to be a Collingwood supporter.)

Edit: And Tony Leonard, ex-Coodabeen and now 3AW football caller

I made the mistake of watching offsiders on the ABC on Sunday morning.

Kellie Underwood started by calling Geelong the oldest club in the competition (maybe she was talking about the players?)

And then trotted out the grand final match up between the working class Bulldogs and the Melbourne inner city elite.

this fifty year old stereotyping drives me nuts.

One of my best mates is a Doggies supporter. In his group of mates there are about seven other Doggies members and I just can't wrap my head around it. Where did they all come from?

Regardless, they're all decent guys and I've never had issues with Doggies fans.

I live in Maidstone and every second house on my daily walks is covered in Bulldogs gear now. The local government buildings light up in their colours at night too.

Yep. While there are still the old diehards (I have a lot of friends in this category) many of them couldn't  afford to live in Footscray nowadays.

I live in the western suburbs and hate Footscray by virtue of having them rammed down my throat.  Never enjoyed the whole 'we're so hard-done-by' vibe of their supporters...but I am bitter & twisted 😁

Chris Hemsworth.

Don’t we know it! We’ve seen enough pics of him and his six-pack watching Footscray on TV.
Who watches the footy shirtless?!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
