Ben brown is going to have a blinder. He’s been building beautifully and clunked some very strong marks in the prelim. Geelong played harder than port did and we won by more. They at least showed effort and made contests. Port were just watching a game of football happen around them. It was worse than us in 2018. I trust our system over theirs. It has looked anti fragile in the big games time after time. Their midfield could get away from ours if we were a bit off. I don’t think it will if we show up.

Regardless of what happens it is a lot of fun to be in a grand final again. Feels like what it felt like walking around the ground before the 2000 grand final. Which was a long time ago. The 2021 version of that exists online but it’s still good.

I guess it was just a matter of time before the tired old  ‘scummy west’ tropes started appearing. With it’s craft breweries, speakeasies, cool little eateries and creative scene Footscray has 1000 times more vibrancy than where I work in Armadale. They can count their money and the westies can count their blessings.

Last time we were favourites in the grand final, was 1964. We won it then too

I’m so bloody over hearing about the bulldogs and their underdog status. “Backs against the wall” mentality. Completely manufactured narrative from Bevo. They found themselves in that position because they lost games. Meanwhile, we have come from outside the Top 8 last year. Won 9-0. Been on a tarmac for hours before flying home to win by 98 pts. Then, we win the minor premiership and get the reward of no home finals and 2 weeks in quarantine. Then after winning both finals, our GF opponent gets the luxury of a 2 week break for god knows what reason. Absolutely over the “working class hero” narrative the Dogs dish up. Half their team are elite private schoolboys, but because one grew a mullet the Western morons think he is some battler like them. I hope we smash this pack of phonies

Plus they’ve managed to fluke themselves into gaining a top academy pick in Ugle-Hagen while it looks like academy pick will be lost to us.

They may well have been the underdog battlers back when they won their drought breaking premiership but they’ve had the list to be right in the mix since and until now haven’t made good on it. The fact their were against the wall was thanks to that pitiful fade out against port in round 23.

The first 5min will be interesting to see how it’s umpired, they still did more throws than the Melbourne storm against port that weren’t called. It baffles me that they get away with it. Their dream run with the umps is one of the big things that has me worried, that last match up was a joke with ALL 50/50 calls going their way and us just getting blatant frees not even called.

One thing that I take from that last meeting in a positive way is that we didn’t play well for 90% of the game but still only lost by 20 points. Importantly though, same scoring shots, they were accurate and we weren’t. Kick straight Dees!

Absolutely guttered that many of us (25,000-30,000 MFC/AFL/MCC members) could be missing out on a once in a lifetime opportunity in seeing our club win a flag live. This is not even including MFC royalty starting with RDB, Daniher, Neitz, Jones etc…(aside from Lyon who is there)

I saw Sydney, Geelong, Doggies and Richmond all break their droughts at the MCG and the supporters of those clubs had the day of their lives at the MCG and then celebrations after.

Meanwhile we’ll have to put up with BT’s 16 commentary mistakes per quarter.

I agree, any one he goes too has to run up and back, I’d try and get TMac on him. Keep up son!

Sideshow did this to Andrew’s in the Brisbane game.  It worked a treat.

One thing that both preliminary finals showed is the importance of bringing the ball to ground from the tall forwards. There were actually quite a few moments where the ball was not in a favourable position for them but they just competed and continued to give our small forwards a chance. It was a stark contrast to Dixon at Port with his pathetic efforts, barely competed when he was out of position. Basically looked like he threw the toys out the pram.

That Lance Franklin entry should say LOST BY 63 - colour is correct, margin is correct, result is incorrect

They can also count their covid cases!

I totally get where you are coming from, but we are all in the same boat and I am as frustrated as anyone. I live in an eastern suburb with no cases but have close friends in the west who live in houses I can’t afford to take a [censored] in. I know it was tongue in cheek but it’s hardly a [censored] hole.It just reeks of Melbourne ‘elitism’.

I am sorry you cant see your sick dad, I hope he is alright and sincerely hope that situation changes soon.

This is not directed at you but annoys me more than most things.

We're all in the same storm but some are in superyachts and some are in tinnies.

The pollies and the public servants are by and large immune from this disaster with their secure jobs, pay rises and working from home allowances

2 weeks out and i feel like it's 10 minutes before the game starts. going to be a long 2 weeks.

The Westies can count their money and capital gains too if they bought their property more than a decade ago. Property prices have more than doubled in that time.

Got access to a code and ticket. Anyone interested for the code at $200? Thanks Stuck in Melbourne, long time Trident member

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
