Hats off to Kate Roffey. Kate will not be going to Perth due to the limited number of MFC people allowed into WA. I am sure Kate could have found a way to be included in the party of 55 but she put others ahead of herself. A real leader.....

Is the 55 inclusive of players and coaching staff? If so then, i dont think she really had much of a say as they would have absolutely had to have priority.

Can the club out source people from  WA if we are short staffed eg. Trainers/masseuses?

If needed, I would be surprised if Freo and Eagles staff don't offer to help.

When the northern states had to leave their state this year various clubs lent them equipment,  physios etc.

Hats off to Kate and an absolute shambles that only 55 can attend.

No doubt blokes like Eddie McGuire, Tom Browne and Damien Barrett (who's already quarantining) will somehow find their way over there.

Spot on. I just think it is a great sign for the future.

It’s one gesture, but it speaks volumes about her character. And that’s a reflection of the culture of our club. I feel sorry for supporters of other clubs who aren’t in a position to be proud of their club’s admin. as we are. (I don’t really feel sorry for them. 😏)

i thought it was 55 for adelaide,  but 75 for perth

maybe she can make it for perth?

I assume our ex president will be there, as he lives in Perth?

I also heard it was 75 to WA and 55 to SA, hence why half the squad flew directly to Perth instead of jumping off in SA.

Still, 75 is not a lot when you take your whole list, plus coaches, plus medical staff, plus media team. It leaves very little room for anyone else. I wonder if Pert went. I assume he has.

I'd be flabbergasted if Pert didn't make the cut.

Having said that he's not the one kicking the footy or moving the magnets, so you can never be too sure.

If the president of Melbourne didn't make the cut, there's absolutely no way that any other MFC member from Victoria will be able to get an exemption to isolate for 14 days.

It is impossible to get an exemption.

She inherited an extraordinary position. Outside of her connections with the Dan Andrew's Government at a time we are pleading for a club centre, she offers nothing. No loss.

I'm genuinely asking how you come to that conclusion? No agenda, just curious.

Kate sacrifices her chance to be at the GF even though her team is still in the running.
On the other end of the scale Eddie McGuire has been knocked back by WA in his application for a permit. He plans to re-apply since he doesn’t accept the refusal. He was refused a permit because he was, in his capacity as a broadcaster, deemed non-essential.
But what riles me the most is that his application included his two sons whom he listed as “producers.” Give me strength. 🙄

I thought you would have stopped after your trading debacles over the years, but lols... I hope you enjoy attending the game.

Can someone tell me why Tom Browne's getting an exemption.

Does channel 7 Perth not have a sports reporter that Melbourne's channel 7 news can correspond with?

I was thinking about this, I know he probably wouldn't be up for it, but any member of the previous successful era, starting with RDB31 should be given a ticket and some grace to be there. I would dearly love to see Ron hand over the Cup to Max.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
