I've been thinking the same thing myself with Brayshaw, he has proven himself a true team player this year on the wing and has probably done everything the coaching staff has asked of him despite what others may think.

Never rated Brayshaw before this year. I'm sure the coaches love him to death right now, and would only move him if they had a better replacement on the non-Langdon wing.

It's well known you have to pay overs to prise a player out of his current club. And his manager will be making MFC well aware of that. "Show me the money!!!!!" Do we have the cap space?

But ...

Carlton??? One of two clubs in turmoil?

Also ... flag contender. Never say never.

Not when someone is wanting to come home and you are the ladder leader with a list set for 5 years of premiership tilts and the best culture in the game. Does he want cash or the chance at cups?

Bring back Hogan then trade Hogan to Fremantle for Cerra.

Gus's brother plays at Freo.

That's a straight swap for Cerra.

Unless Gus request a trade then this doesn’t happen

Don’t understand any talk of trading Gus whatsoever

It is trade talk no one really knows what the club is looking for, a bit of info gets out once the season is done but really we have no idea what position the club will take.  To me our biggest need is for some outside class, Cerra has this and to get this done Brayshaw is someone that Fremantle may want with picks.  Will this get done most likely not but if there was a chance of landing Cerra you would think that Brayshaw would be a key in making this happen.  For one making cap room and two having something to offer Fremantle to get the deal done.

Some posters have no idea. Don't stress.

Anyone mentioning Gus or even Jackson and Rivers has no idea and or is a troll.

I like the Weed, but straight swap should get it done.

I think people want to see an Ed Langdon running clone on the other wing. Gus plays his role and we've won the minor premiership, don't really want to tinker too much in that department

Why on earth would we trade Gus? Cerra is a good player but 750k!?

we need to use F/A to round out the edges on our list so we can go for back to back flags. NO SELLING THE FARM

I'm not suggesting we trade Gus, but wasn't he given a new contract the same year he finished 3rd in the Brownlow?

He would be on healthy money himself

I'm sure he's on healthy money, but i don't wanna speculate on what that is, he's doing everything he's asked to do to earn it so he's fine regardless of what he's on

You don't want an Ed Langdon Clone, but adding a highly skilled outside mid is something that would make our team better.  Ed is  running machine but like most out mids lacks that polish by foot, adding someone that can get the ball on the outside and hit targets by foot will make us better.

Adding Brayshaw into the topic is more what will it cost us to get this trade done, no point have a trade topic if you don't discuss what it will cost you or what you are prepared to give up.  It is all hypothetical and we have varying opinions.

Understandable, My main point was defensively I think Angus does a great team role as you can see by his intercept possessions/spoils. He does have some clangers by foot but reads the position well and plays a big role for the team.

I'm just a bit cautious that if we replace with someone with superior polish there is a risk that of losing that specific cog/role that Gus is playing. I could be wrong, any replacement might be able to do both, but a risk to change a formula that has taken us to the minor premiership

No thanks.

"Adam Cerra is a certainty to be at Carlton next year with Melbourne the only other side interested and unable to get a deal done unless they traded a star talent like Luke Jackson."

Hahaha I am sure Freo have come calling and we have been screening their calls.

Absolutely zero chance we are trading Jackson, especially while he is in contract. Even if he was homesick, and  there is zero indication to suggest he is, we would back ourselves to keep him.

Yeah give them Jackson, throw in Gawn as a sweetener.

Surely Jetta, Chandler, Baker and Vandenberg can get the job done.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
