Ever noticed how the commentators always call Easton Wood by both his names, never just "Wood"?

It's as if there's a player out there called "Easternwood".

I always used to wonder what Garyablettjunior's first name was

Mr Eddiebetts is another in that exclusive club

Good to see a nice wet weather slog. The winner will be knackered.

Isn’t that just up the road from Colinwood?

100% jaded…I was going to type that but assumed it went without saying.

My brain is finding it so difficult to comprehend Oliver’s last two games. He is the best player in the comp and the best player I’ve ever seen in an MFC jumper…admittedly I’ve only been supporting our great club since 87 so didn’t see much of Flower

Different beasts.

Meaningless anecdote, my Phys-Ed teacher in Auckland in late 70’s was Easton’s dad, Phil. He was the Australian triple jump champ at the time (followed his love to NZ). He was never called Mr. Wood, just Philwood. True thing.

Oh right. I used to call him "the little (something else)". Thank you for the correction!

I haven’t seen this many mullets in the one place, since The Blue Light Disco’s back in ‘79

All the free kicks have been there, the last one a bit iffy. He is playing in front or first to the ball in the wet. Of course he will get free kicks. Dumb defence of a small forward by the Bombers.

Weightman gets about 2 or 3 goals from frees a match. Has had 3 from frees today.

He’s had 5 free kicks, 4 goals from them, and I reckon he vaguely deserved one of them.

Oh, goodness. Those poor Essendon supporters will be furious!

The Dogs 5 goals from 7 are free kicks. 4 of those to Weightman.

You have to be kidding. Pathetic umpiring.

The difference in this game is free kicks. The commentary team is finally coming hard at the umpires about it.

It’s been ridiculous.

cody weightman - three four frees, three four goals

And he’s even more unlikeable after Eddie was explaining that he is a family friend…Eddie being the ever self indulgent [censored]

Essendon should bring up the umpiring post game regardless of consequence. The bulldogs are being handed this. Frees in front of goal. Frees going one way and not the other. I hate both teams and don’t have a dog in this fight but I am very over the umpiring handing the dogs opportunity week after week.

partly on Essendon for their inability to convert too.

That Weightman free kick for in the back on the boundary is just about the softest free I have ever seen. To pay that on the boundary in the wet in a final after the ball was disposed (i.e., the push didn't even affect the kick) is disgraceful.

I'm glad we didn't have to play in Tassy.

Can’t rule it out though. A few cases in Perth …….

I can see Weightman becoming one of the most hated players in the league

Yes though in fairness he didn’t even stage for that last gift

Port are going to destroy either of these two teams or Brisbane.

Never has a Grand Final spot been more assured.

Brisbane are not a bad side. Came up against a juggernaut last night.

The wet’s made this a bit of a mullet wrestle.

(here all week)

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
