One other bonus of finishing top is that if we keep winning we’ll be wearing our regular guernsey.

If we lose in the first week we may be forced at some stage to wear the clash strip. I personally like our clash strip but obviously would prefer to wear the navy blue and red.

Are you happy to wear the clash strip in a Grand Final (no need to answer anywhere, anytime in anything)?

Of the top 4 teams we’re likely to be forced to wear the clash against Port and maybe Brisbane??? We’d wear navy against Geelong.

if we did lose and were forced to wear the royal blue I could care less as long as we won.
I don’t even look at the tigers yellow jumper in their win and find it weird.

Happy with it, there is a bit of history to it. At least it isn't some of the others we've had.

Would prefer the Navy, obviously.

I do too. My reason is because on too many occasions I’ve been mistaken for a bombers supporter… excuse me for a sec…  🤮… that’s better. Where was I? Oh yeah, because the navy blue can sometimes look like black.

I love the royal blue jumper, i think it's the perfect away shirt.

If we got to a granny and were in royal blue, i wouldn't care in the slightest because i'll be there in my royal blue jumper.

My son prefers it to our navy blue 😲

We'd be required to wear the clash strip if we become the "away" side vs Port, Brisbane, GWS or Essendon.

But that can only happen vs Port in the prelim, if we lose to Brisbane and they beat Geelong.

We'll obviously be the "home" side in the QF, and the SF if we lose, and the PF if we win the QF.

If we make the GF, even if we lose the first final, I believe the rule is that we get to wear our home jumper because we were the higher ranked side.

Do we lose our rank to Brisbane in the event that they beat us next week and then we end up playing them again in the Grand Final?

Yep. In that case we do.

For this week though, I’m happy that we’re in our original gear and the Lions west their anemic light colored strip.

My childhood was in the clash strip so I have a lot of affection for it. I think it’s the best one and I wouldn’t be too bothered if we wear in in the grand final.

That saying the navy blue will always be my preferred one.

Alright, alright, alright.... Let us remember, we are the Royals; so if it came to us wearing our clash strip royal blue, no problem.

Just win I don't care what we are wearing.

It’s be funny to see what Gil would do if we played a home final against Essendon… what clash strip will they put them in? Maybe just skins…

Don’t they (occasionally) wear some sort of grey / charcoal with the red sash?

I hate the royal blue. It reeks of the 70s when we were mediocre. We returned to navy in 1987 and fired up.

Having said that, the royal blue works as a clash strip since it's better than all the alternatives.

Depends on which season is the precedent.

I believe 2015 is the only time this has happened - West Coast finished 2nd, Hawthorn finished 3rd. They played each other in the first final (WC won) and then again in the Grand Final. In the Grand Final, Hawthorn wore its home jumper but white shorts. West Coast wore its then-away jumper (royal blue).

It's unknown territory I think. This tweet shows you that the AFL makes it up as they go along:

The history to it is looooooooosssssing. Year after year.

They'll have to wear their red clash jumper, as they did in 2019 (our only home game against Essendon since 2010 and only our second since 2005:

Personally I reckon the period of 2007-2016 reeks too, but I don't associate that with our navy jumper.

Don't mind our current clash strip (compared to the white / grey ones we had) so not too fazed. But 2 questions:

1. As we've finished top, doesn't it mean we don't have to wear our clash strip if there is a clash?

2. Could we use our indigenous jumper?

Best Clash strip in the league by a country mile.

Love it keep winning and we won't have to wear it problem solved.

The light blue was the change and we were always struggling when it was our jumper.

The navy blue has a much longer history and is associated with the golden era so I wouldn't expect it to be a problem even if you relate it to 2007-16. I know some people are sentimental about the light blue - adopted for early colour TV - but for those of us with a longer history it's rich in bad memories.
