Bompt has been relatively quiet the last two weeks while Oliver probably got 3 votes today and maybe 1 vote last week. I think it will be very close.

I took a multi early in the season: Melbourne and Casey premiership and Oliver Brownlow. $10 @ $129.77. Pretty happy abput that.

Don't expect Clarry to poll against Adelaide but he's got at least 2 from last night.  He probably deserves 3 but it depends how much emphasis the umps put on Gawn's last quarter, he'd be the only threat.  Bont can't poll in the last couple of games and Wines definitely will.

6 Oliver: I have been critical of Ollie in the past because I felt he just had scope for so much more, whether it be his kicking or his handballing backwards. But that game showed what he has been trying to achieve since midway through last year and was Chris Judd-esque. Did you hear the Cats imploring players to mark Ollie on the coverage? He was that good and he needed to be with Trac down.

5 Gawn: How good was it that he got his redemption against the Cats at the same ground that Zach Tuohey buried us after the siren a few years back now. He was frustrated early but he lifted and even if we hadn't won, he had shown again his resolve.

4 Lever: Quiet early and beaten during the 2nd term onslaught, he started winning the ball back late in the second term and kept going for the rest of the night. He's a major reason why we are good this season. He talks and he walks and he can even baulk. But it's his sure hands and clever mind that are critical - 12 intercepts.

3 Viney: This was like a final and as you'd expect, the hardnuts comes to the fore. Couldn't stop Selwood early but boy was he working.

2 Harmes: Same story as Viney. You have to have these guys in the trenches and he is just so fit.

1 Salem: After a quietish few weeks he asserted himself a bit more and with a young running defence around him (Bowey, Rivers, Smith) he was the smarts all night.

I think 2 goals and 39 touches will be enough for the 3. Max has a quieter 1st 3 quarters.

Oliver’s will to win and his ability to compete for 120 minutes at full speed and power is unmatched. He is a superstar.

One of the greatest performances I have ever seen from any player in a game last night…it was nothing short of immense!

I truely believe he is the best player in the comp…a competitive animal!

I wonder if Andy, Binman and George are going to give Harmes the credit he deserves

I thought he was good last night. My main problem with Harmes is his inconsistency from week to week. He has played some great games this year and some not so great games.

There are many things that surprise me on the odd occasion we play finals. One is that the Demonland Player of the Year continues on. I was fully expecting to open this thread this morning to see Oliver having been formally announced as the winner.

Why should it not continue on? We're still playing games. Every fit listed player is on a level playing field. The Brownlow only stops at the end of the H & A season because 10 teams aren't playing anymore.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
