No way Bowey goes out for ANYONE! Bowey stays for the rest if his career for mine. HUNT will find a spot for sure so that leaves possibly Hibberd who has become fumbly or???

Hibberd wouldn't be in the side if Hunt was healthy.

This may have been discussed already (I’m too lazy to read through the entire thread), but is it possible that if the Dogs win on Friday, securing us at least 2nd place, Nathan Jones could get a run against the Cats with a view to him either getting to play a farewell game or the opportunity to secure a place in the side for the finals?

Or beat the blazes out of Selwood and Hawkins

Wouldn’t be against this.

I miss that gif that Andy created in the lead up to (2018 I think it was) finals, where we smashed Hawks, Geelong, West Coast and another. I was a hilarious wrestling meme!

We probably should just storm through at full strength, a few look tired, but we have depth, we’re also likely to have a weeks break at some point.

This is exactly what we should do. Put Jones in as the sub instead of VandenBerg.

In: May, McDonald, Viney, Jones

Out: Smith, Melksham, Sparrow, VandenBerg

If WB win on Fri night, should we expect a few to be rested? Perhaps Max?

Despite all the debate about the team selection this week,  if Dogs win then nothing is on the line.

Do a reasonable hit out but it will be dereliction of duty to play NQR key players and have them sore for the first final.  I know that covers about 3/4 of the team but we have never had this opportunity to game the system as others have and we should use it.

If Dogs lose then the reverse is true. Go for broke and hope the gods are smiling on May, Lever, Oliver,Petracca,Salem, Gawn,...................................................................................................................................

My order of importance to winnning a flag above.

Cats will do exactly the same i reckon - and so if Doggies win, i would be surprised if there is a major contest..

Of course it still wont stop Danger and Selwood with head high bumps, Hawkins with free flying elbows.

Would Cats have nothing to play for if Dogs win? Playing dogs or port in a neutral venue. Perhaps they fancy one over the other

Personally I'd rather play Port (or Brisbane) in week 1 than the Dogs, despite the last few games I think the Dogs are a more finals hardened team than Port. So for mine a win is still important Saturday night.

Absolutely. Dogs are a real threat. Port is my preference but a Hipwoodless Brissy appeals more than the Dogs who have one of the smartest coaches in the game.

Wonder if they'll pull a surprise selection? Dropping Hibberd for May instead of Joel Smith?

I kinda hope not. Prefer things as 'settled' as possible from a role perspective.

The changes seem relatively obvious this week, so hope we don't get too cute.

Hibbo too important with Hunt out. Gives us some dash and carry from the backline. Smith is a no.

No j agree. Just know the club rate Smith enormously and would be finding ways to fit him in.

Smith is a bit stiff but at least we have a capable player there that has played, in case a defender goes down.

real tough having ready to go fill ins with no VFL

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
