On to a more positive note I am glad to see the filth more than 5 goals down at half time.

Agree, also pushed into the contest.

Nothing in that. Doesn’t warrant a report

Brisbane now on 130% with a half still to go. Makes things interesting for the Dogs next week. No pre-finals bye likely to come to their rescue this time if they drop to 5th.

Hawkins in strife?

Just saw it. Going by how strict the afl are on this I would say 1 week for sure.

Both arms pinned in the tackle and slams his head into the ground causing concussion. He was unable to protect himself as he fell and therefore Hawkins had duty of care not to cause head injury. Would be 2 weeks if named Neal-Bullen

More likely be 2 weeks for Neal and another 2 weeks for Bullen.

Yeah that's soft.

He'll get off.

Player subbed out with probable concussion.

Late tackle.

We will see.

Nine free kicks to four.

Suddenly Port are back in it.

FMD

And so it continues from the AFL (umpires have become the fall-guy messengers at maximum carriage).

They just discussed the Hawkins incident for a while in Fox. Tom Morris compared it to the Holman one from earlier in the year. 2 weeks reduced to zero at tribunal. J Lewis and Brad J all agreed not much in it. May get suspended but should be overturned at tribunal

Against all precedents and justices, he'll get off - the recipient player shouldn't have been there to receive an injurious, late impact - Match Review guys will strongly declare it was his own fault. Case dismissed.

Of course the Tribunal will overturn it. Opponent concussed - head no longer sacrosanct.

Great memories! He was good at that in the redn'blue.

I listened to that as well.

They said it was similar, a perfect tackle except the outcome and the player tackling not knowing if the ball came free.

For me, Hawkins looked worse because he pinged both arms of the opponent and drove him straight to the turf. Holman had one arm and attempted to turn the player.

Think Hawkins might get one because of the injury and Danger clear.

Can someone with a better understanding of the rules explain to me how this play by Hawkins isn't a free kick for taking his eyes off the ball in a marking contest?

This is a genuine question.

Yeah I would've thought that's a free kick against Hawkins as he takes his eyes off the ball quite early in the contest whereas the Saints player takes his eyes off the ball at the last second, but Dunstall reckons that's why the umpire didn't pay the free against.

As for Danger, I don't like the bloke and I almost certainly think he's a protected species, but agree there isn't anything in it. No case to answer, fine at most.

I doubt it Mr Leg.  The AFL will want as many stars up and running as possible me thinks.  They've already taken too many hits in this pandemic.

The 'Stand Rule' is the biggest [censored]-up in AFL laws history. Needs to be killed off after this season.

Some like it, some love it, but I cannot see the sense as it so much (more even than usual) depends on umpires interpretation and diligence, and the penalty can be absurd.

Anyone got the vision of Dangerfield incident?

Hate to say it but looks innocent (that said, ANB would get 3-4)

Any footage of the Hawkins one?

Have to laugh at Chris Scott saying "we should know by now" regarding the pre-finals bye. Is he living in the same world as us right now? We barely know anything day by day let alone over one week from now!

I met up with a cats friend of mine and asked whether the old bodies will hold up, he honestly couldn't give me real answer. I think he sees what everyone else sees, which is why he is so desperate to know his his veterans league is going to have the week off.

Still one out of three results going our way is pretty good I have to say.

Now to put the Crows in a spliff and have no injuries…
