This seems a silly thread to me. We clearly have the best 25 players going around in the competition and none of the suggested players would get a game in our team. You guys are just wanting to improve Casey!

I don't know his contract situation but I'd be having a word to Tim Taranto. I remember reading he had to be talked out of getting a MFC tattoo in the year of his draft. He's coming into his prime.

The best thing is none of our good players are being linked to other clubs. What a change from 8 years ago when most free agents would leave

Love to Roosy and PJ

But the ither half is on massive coin.

They'd have Cripps, McKay, Weitering, Walsh, Saad, Williams and Martin chewing up a fair chunk of the cap.

Warms the cockles of your heart, doesn't it.

Think he is from Werribee? Choco may need to have a little word.

Chocco: “Hi, I heard you’re from Werribee”

Riccardi: “Yep”

Chocco: “Same here”

Yeah it’s a fizzer this year. What’s gone wrong?

Matched only by a thread about the permutations and predictions of how we can sneak into the 8.

You forgot McGovern!!!!

Green will go to Richmond if anywhere. His grandfather Michael is in Tigers team of the Century and won 4 flags.

If their price was affordable, I'd target Hopper and Taranto too. If Clarry or Petracca goes down, our midfield will really struggle. Need to add more here and both are 24 and 23 respectively. A good age for the demographic of our list.

Thought we nominated him but it was Carlton.

Sam Weideman says hi

Marc Murphy too

We actually Nominated him before Jackson to trigger GWS into matching the bid.

So i would say if he was interested in coming back to Vic it would be with the Dees.

We didn't bid

Maynard in, Rivers to the midfield is more viable

Hopper and Taranto, and to a lesser extent Green have all shown they can win clearances and run the midfield. I think Rivers will be a star, but we're not sure if that'll be in the back half or in the midfield. The aforementioned players have looked contested beasts from just about the moment they stepped into the league.

Hopper is a beauty. I'd 100% go after him.

Yes fair points. Hopper I rate really highly, don't think he gets as much appreciation as he should. Taranto I feel is the opposite. He hates a handball and constantly burns team mates instead of giving off the first option.

Feel like long term Rivers could be a really good mid as he has a fairly strong outside game so isn't limited to being a centre bounce only player.

Yeah, don't get me wrong about Rivers. He could well be an absolute gun in the midfield and provide us with a good kicking decision maker who is a bit more outside, but can win the contested ball when required.

I'd prefer Hopper over Taranto, but I wouldn't sneeze at Taranto if he wanted to move to his spiritual home. ;)

Something has to fall out of the GWS tree this year.  Signing Kelly to multi year $M contract along with Greene, Coniglio and Whitfield, means there is not much left on the table other than scraps.....something has to give.

It's interesting. I'd absolutely pillage GWS. Their talent is amazing. Whereas, the Suns, not so much. I'd only be interested in Miller or King, and maybe Greenwood at a pinch.

Surely they'll ship off Cogs.

Hopper is rumoured to be re-signing a 2 year deal

Unless he wants to go, it's not a great look shipping off your captain.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
