Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

A few players clearly are not quite up to AFL standard.  It showed that Casey had about a dozen VFL players.  With 6-7 taken to Brisbane for eventually no purpose, it was hard to watch the Casey boys be overrun.

Declase. Yes he should be on the list and could get a debut game shortly.

Jones.  Great to see him get back.  He might be very handy come finals time but unfortunately he may not force his way back in if we hit form again.

Lockhart. Really competed well and I’d definitely retain on the list.

Turner is one to keep.  Battled well and his judgement and marking fits as a backup for Lever.

Others like Baker and Bedford are fringe at best and disappointed.  A question to be asked at year end. Bradtke is a no.

For the dogs, Bedendo looked like he’d fit into our team.  At 19, he’s physically ready and good smart footballer. Good one touch footballer. Perhaps he is one to mark down for a end of 2022 conversation.

Bakers kicking is a real let down, he reads the ball well and has some great pace

Jones looked good and has some really nice kicks, I think were missing him a bit in the seniors

Lockhart, Declase, Turner all look worth pursuing with

Its not only his kicking that lets him down its his decision and it is below par, Declase and Turner are worth developing Lockhart not sure in the long run and as for Jones and Jetta they are now VLF standard thats it thanks for the service but the game has gone by at the top level.

You're right about his decision making, Baker ran himself into trouble a couple times.

I think Jones would bring a bit of maturity to the field that we have been lacking lately

Ridiculously out of his depth in the AFL system. 3 years on the list and legit would struggle to get a game even at suburban level.

I mean this in the kindest way because I'm sure he's a hard worker and certainly comes from a good family. But he'd be the worst player I've ever seen on our list since Brendan Van Shaik.

For every Mason Cox there is always your Austin Bradtke's when taking a punt on these project types.

Thank him for his service at years end and move on.

Here's another way you could have said it "sadly hasn't progress and won't be on the list next year".  But no, you had to put in there some really unnecessary and hurtful comments about how you rate his ability.

If he suffers from mental health issues as a result of opinions posted such as yours you'd be the first to put out a heart felt message of support and not even recognize your hypocracy.

It's time you grew up.

I find it interesting how Bakers kicking is a let down yet you saw the opposite of Jones. Jones blazed away at goal and forward to not close to the target so many times I lost count. Baker is not an AFL quality kick. Jones is no longer an AFL quality decision maker.

I think he was trying to do the work the others couldn't in those cases for a very undermanned Casey. He was hitting alot of targets earlier and in previous weeks before his injury

Any comments on D Turner’s game today? He looked good in his first VFL game a while back.

A young fella that shows glimpses.  Early days DZ.  Could be handy....or might go the way of the Dodo.  Had a few moments yday but also [censored] the bed on occasions under pressure.  Wasn't alone here and understandable given he has just stepped up to VFL (AFL list).

He never was. Hard worker but often bombs it resulting in a turnover or gets caught holding the ball.

DELTA DEMONS by KC from Casey

There was an ill wind blowing for the home side at Casey Fields on  Saturday but you wouldn’t have noticed if you turned up seven or eight minutes into the second quarter with the scoreboard showing the Casey Demons holding a lead of 7.5.47 to Footscray’s solitary point. Up to that stage, the depleted Dees combination had taken full advantage of the windy conditions and headed by veterans Nathan Jones, Jimmy Munro and Mitch White had came out of the blocks and plundered the Bulldogs’ defence.

The game took a dramatic turn after that. The Bulldogs scored their first major at the 9 minute mark of the second quarter and went on to add five more unanswered goals to be within reach of the rapidly tiring Demons by half time.

The slaughter continued unabated and, apart from a single third quarter goal in the middle of the third term, the Demons were able to add a couple of late game junk time goals to George Grey to fall by an inglorious 37 points.

This was only Casey’s second loss for the season, the first was by just a point, but it plunged the Demons down the ladder into fifth place. No excuses are acceptable but it should be said that the Delta strain of the Covid19 panic played a crucial role in the outcome.

While the Bulldogs AFL side was playing locally on Saturday, the Melbourne Demons were flying around the country with a large contingent of players who would otherwise have been playing for Casey. Players such Chandler, Daw, Melksham, Joel Smith, Weideman and vandenBerg should have formed the backbone of the team but instead, were flying backward and forward between Melbourne and Brisbane. The total number of changes was seven - all of them AFL listed Demons!

It was left to the very few older hands such as Jones, Nev Jetta and Jay Lockhart and the Casey older guard to lead a very green group of younger players from suburban and country competitions into the fray. Many had been playing very little football of any sort in recent weeks due to the lockdowns and it showed after the frenetic pace of the opening.

In the ensuing gloom of the day, the Demons’ mid season rookie Kye Declase once again stood out. He amassed 27 disposals and kicked a goal in a promising display. Oskar Baker also had his moments

With Melbourne and its extended squad up in the air again this week, little respite can be expected for the Delta Demons next week.

Given the situation with Melbourne taking an extended group of players away to WA for next week’s game, I wonder why Casey isn’t trying out the NGA players from the local area. With Majak Daw out of team for that reason, surely it makes sense to give someone like Mac Andrew the opportunity to play against higher quality opponents in the VFL?

Agree wholeheartedly. The family are both well known sportspersons who would no doubt have trained Austin well in how to deal with public criticism including the sort of hostile lashings young people in sport get from time to time. Still, there’s no need for the nasty stuff. I read today that there’s another Bradtke playing school basketball. I hope he does well in whatever sport he plays and if he chooses footy and is good at it, that he and his family aren’t put off by the personal attacks Austin’s received as a 20-21 year old doing his best in his chosen sport.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
