Did anyone else notice that Brayshaw let this slip in the post match interview? Seems like its almost a done deal…

Yeah I did but thought it was just a slip up until the news today

To be fair, we will comfortably account for the dogs if the current pattern continues.

We are so bloody schizophrenic.

More like bipolar, up and then down.

Schizophrenia is living in delusional states, creating non realities. Which, is not true, we are a good side and have proven our credentials with some great wins.  We have not imagined them.

Reality is, we are a hard side to beat.

Though, our problems are in our head, we need mental strength and agility

Does not matter who we play. After yesterday they look gone.

Go to bed!

Well that sucks. I have been hanging to watch the dogs game, especially after missing the earlier game. We’ll still be lockdown next weekend I’d say

B@ll@cks. Another game we won't be able to attend.

PD's (personality disorders), are a degree of associated problems, we all exhibit some behaviour of each. So it comes down to how dysfunctional we are, not the behaviour.

I would suggest OCD (obsessive, compulsive disorder), is a more likely diagnosis within this threads topic and Demonlanders.

Look how we get thrown out by change to the schedule and our weekly rituals during the season for our march to the grail.

Switching round 19 and 20 games still has a few border closure and exemption issues.

Just let us play GCS next week in Qld!!  If Brisb can come and go to Melb to play the Hawks next week then we can come and go to Qld to play GCS.

Have a horrible feeling the AFL is hell bent on us playing in Darwin.

I don't get why we have to move games around? Just play them where they can be played, we will end up being screwed having to travel to Darwin then Perth in consecutive weeks ?

I think we might be in for a beating, worse luck.

I don’t understand this thinking. So if we played them in two weeks we could beat them but playing them next week means we lose? We aren’t carrying significant injuries. Nothing will be different next week to the week after, except for perhaps a small-ish crowd.

Well, if they do play this week, and limit the crowd to 25,000 then 80% need to be Dees fans, as it is our home game!

You'd hope that next season the mathematical genius who develops the AFL Fixture might let each team play each other once before any repeat games are scheduled.  That way, if the season needs to be shortened it can be done fairly.  I've never understood why we play some sides twice before we complete a match against all sides.

They will tackle and hunt us like no tomorrow.

Our ball movement will be a thing of beauty.

Our ability to get the ball will hurt anyone in the way.

Fight, get it and control it.

They will chase us all day.

Did we have a VFL match this weekend?

no... cancelled unfortunately

Ironically Sydney and GWS seconds played yesterday and 3 from each team had to go around again today due to the covid exposures at the rugby.

I believe there was a practice game with a few Victorian clubs and we were involved as well. Not sure who played.

I just hope the boys come to Perf to play and smash the Eagles.

My only game I can attend all year.

I hope, however unlikely, that the AFL put some thought into our finishing with three away games in a row, with two of those on opposite sides of the country. I’m happy to play the teams, a rethink of the venues is warranted.

I will eat my hat if we are allowed crowds at games in Victoria in the next 2-3 weeks. Given the spread at the MCG the argument to allow crowds becomes ever harder to make while we still have cases and while NSW is still a clusterfudge.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
