Ellison is interesting.  Only 20, probably a little undersized to play as a KPF at AFL level, but could develop into a utility type maybe.  I suspect he'd need to work on his speed to make that fly.

Tigers goal 110-56

Interesting watching this.  Casey is dominating, but I don't see anyone really knocking down the door to get into the senior side.  Probably VandenBerg and Melksham the closest.

If Baker could kick he could be anything. Vandenberg, Melksham and Jetta all look like AFL players but this game doesn't put them in the picture for a recall. Weid looks good, but struggles to transfer it to the AFL.

Bowey and Declase look like a couple to keep our eye on.

Sparrow, Chandler, Bedford all look ok but nothing outstanding.

more boort 3rds...

My eldest son almost played for the Boort 2nds - for a bit of kick and giggle. Your observation is astonishgly accurate.

How is Lockhart going??

Hard to see those two getting another contract sadly.  I think they've been well and truly left behind.

Fourth game and first six goals for the club.

Didn't see the first 3/4 but commentators saying Bradtke beat Buzza a former AFL player. Bradtke playing in defence last few weeks.

Just got to that on the stream.  Awesome play from Baker.  If only he could do that more often we'd see him in the seniors every week.

Big Carl may object- he was their coach I think.

I'd be very surprised if Bedford didn't get a contract.

Baker has a bit of toe

Yes I’d keep Baker and try to build his confidence to use his pace more.  Certainly impressed when uses his pace to break into space and kick long.

Bradtke surprised me - thought he did a pretty good job for most of the game, including some nice grabs. The backline in general was very solid. Bowey excellent first half, bit quieter in the second half. Joel Smith also very pleasing with his marking, defensive work and his kicking (!!!).

Didn’t I hear one of the commentators last week say that Bedford is probably the number one small forward in the VFL? If that’s true, then I would expect them to persevere with him for a bit longer.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
