Have a look at their membership no ‘s …I was at the game today & considering GWS have no supporters..not a bad turn out. It was pretty hard to get excited with the quality of football we were playing …at least we didn’t sook it up like ESS

The crowd that was there was far from the reason why we lost today, you try cheering hard when the boys are serving up poop on a platter. When the game was there to be won and the team pulled their collective fingers out and started to have a crack, it didn’t sound like an empty stadium in the dead of winter… except when GWS scored a goal.

It was bitterly cold and yet very, very few of the attendees got up and left.

Close thread, what a disgrace

Mark Williams was literally asking the crowd to make noise at 3 qtr time. If you could've come and you didn't, you have no grounds to criticise.

All the best.

If my grandmother had wheels instead of legs, she'd be a bicycle.

"Ifs" are great, but we had a team that didn't turn up until half time.  That's a poorly coached side.  We've now lost 2 out of the last 3, and those against teams that aren't in the top 4. The team looks tired and lackluster. We have a short break now before playing Port, and will get royally touched up if we put in another performance like this.

It isn't up to the supporters to get the #1 team over the line against a team that drew with North and lost to Hawthorn. The team needs to get itself up (as GWS did).  The first half non-appearance was a disgrace. Any team that needs the fans to paper over their lack of commitment in a half of a game doesn't deserve those fans.

I’m only just now getting feeling back in my extremities. My fingers and toes didn’t know what hit them. The last thing I wanna read right now is someone shaming fans who didn’t go today, as well as the fans who were there but apparently not making enough noise. So yeah, seemingly all fans.
This thread is a waste of space and ought to be closed.

Well, not a bicycle. More like the bicycle version of a centaur or Minotaur. A cycletaur, if you will. ?

Silly reply, I know. But this is a silly thread so, whatevs.

Heh. I don't think we've had an "it's the supporters' fault" thread since the Neeld days.

Dr Who would love this thread haha

It’s all Charlie’s fault: he shouldn’t have got a haircut. ?

Given the top tier was closed off, I could have sworn there was at least 20k there today. Bizarre really to see 16k flash up on the screen. And as usual, we were loud for the amount that was there.

Hard to make noise when they are sending us to sleep. First half felt like watching paint dry.

This club is a hard one to turn up for when you enjoy watching good competitive sport where 2 teams go at it trying to win. Lots of fans are accustomed to the Demons picking and choosing when they'll have a crack...and many probably suspected today was going to be one of those days where the players couldn't be bothered...and they were right.

We have had so many years of the results being worse than they should have been, based purely on inconsistent effort, it'll take 3+ years of consistent effort from the players before supporters will attend consistently.

Singin' my song man.
Posted in a thread the other day how attending a game is a 700k round trip for me.
I've turned up plenty of times when the players haven't.
Gets old and makes the drive home real long.
Have found if I stay home and watch on TV and we're stinking it up I can go out the backyard with the radio and not waste all my day.

I've also seen plenty of games where our crowd is very quiet early only to rouse late game.
By product of watching us capitulate too often I reckon.
Wish it wasn't like that but it is.
I said to my young bloke one game "Gets loud doesn't it."
"Yeah, but it's always the other team." was his reply.
Broke my heart.

Saving grace was taking the kids to see us in the finals in '19 with huge pro Melbourne crowds.
Hannan kicking his goal right infront of us was off the richter scale.
Cherished memories.

"Melbourne fans breath it in." ❤️

Congratulations on seeing it all

We were stunned by the lack of intensity and pressure by the so-called top team. They played like under 12s.

What a ridiculous thing to say.

Don't you realise the real problem is the curse of Norm Smith!

We can all scoff but the big clubs know a big loud supporter base is like having a 2-3 goal tail wind.

Jesus H! What a load of [censored]. Crowds don’t win games, footballers do. I guess the games that have been won and lost during no crowd COVID shouldn’t count then?

Johnny mate you need a manager. You are handling yourself waaay too much.

Unfortunately covid makes it impossible to just turn up and a lot of older people who aren’t tech savvy find it too hard these days.
We tried to get a group of friends to go but found it very hard to organize seats in n the same area .
I went with my son but it would have been 5 or six of us if we were just allowed to rock up.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
