titan_uranus 25,250 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Getting in early given we don't play for another 12 days, but: In: B Brown, Viney Out: Weid, Sparrow The poor performance is very little to do with player selection and a hell of a lot to do with application. 21
spirit of norm smith 16,677 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 In. A brain out. Stupidity. In. First option Out. Handballing to a bloke under more pressure In Marking inside fwd 50 out. Kicking to the fwd pocket In. Viney out Sparrow In. Brown out Weideman 7 2

Agreed. Weid simply must go - another Barry Crocker today. BBB should be given the time to settle in to our structure ( though I'm not sure what that was today) Viney in. Sparrow is the logical out but he will get more opportunities. 4
Click_Bate 182 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 IN Viney, B.Brown. OUT Weid, Sparrow. Besides Tomlinson who I think is now clearly the better option over Petty when fit, we should be able to field our best possible side against Essendon 3
Demon Dynasty 17,162 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Too easy. Viney (if fit) or Chunk for Sparrow (reaction time too slow / sloppy for AFL at this stage) BB or MB for Weid
olisik 4,060 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 (edited) Melksham would have kept Maynard quiet today. In: Melksham, B.Brown, Viney Out: Weiderman, Sparrow, Chandler Edited June 14, 2021 by olisik 6
Jaded No More 68,976 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Easy changes In: Viney, Ben Brown Out: Sparrow, Weideman Melksham medical sub 1

Older demon 2,801 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Agree with all of the above. WE failed to lock the ball in our forward line which has been our strength. Pies cruised out the backline lowered their eyes and hit forward leading targets. Simple game plan 2 1 1
deebug 1,754 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 And yet we stood back and let it happen? Goodwin sees this, so why the dosn't he do anything about it??? 1

We're not about to throw the magnets around. He correctly put the onus on the players to right the ship, which they'd done vs Hawthorn and North, but this time it didn't happen. Not Goodwin's fault, and not lost at selection either. 6 1

Perhaps because he wasn’t playing. There is only so much he can do. Or are we back to “Is Goodwin the right guy?” even though we are still on top of the ladder.

Brown over Weid for some weeks now. Hubris carrying him this long. Compare to other flag favourites. Would Geelong carry someone with these numbers this long ? I haven’t consulted the stats so it’s possible other teams have carried KPFs but let’s not compare Weid to Riewoldt Cameron Lynch et al 1

The call that was wrong, IMO, was dropping Brown over Weideman when we did. Since then, Brown had one chance at Casey to get form back and didn't take it. Weideman did just enough to warrant further chances. Whilst IMO Brown would have made a sizeable difference to how we moved the ball and what we did with it inside 50, reality is there was too much else wrong with us to win today. 1
doc roet 1,302 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Weidermam should do a Watts and ask to be dropped. 2
Dave1711 145 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Was just an off day, our minds weren’t on it and they were always gonna do it for Buckley Out Weid sparrow in Brown Viney 2

I think hubris but I can see why there is a perception you give him a block of games (also keeping in mind BBB apparently in a 6 week fitness hardening block), but, given his form I think we’ve thought we can carry him. He wasn’t Robinson Crusoe today by any stretch .
Lil_red_fire_engine 11,376 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Out Weid, Sparrow In Chandler, Viney I still think our forward line has looked at its best with TMac and Jackson with Fritsch as the third early in the year. Time to get back to that until BBB is banging the door down to force us to consider something taller. 2
DeeSpencer 26,667 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 In: Viney Out: Weid Under consideration: Brayshaw for Chandler or Jones. Our forward line was better with the 1 tall forward and Jackson/Fritsch. Viney back means more Harmes and Petracca forward as well. Brayshaw is so pitiful. Just miles off his man all game. Don't tell me it's structure either because JJ and Langdon manage to get on theirs (less so this week). If a half back got caught up the ground he made no effort to cover back for them. His ball use is awful. 1
Jaded No More 68,976 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 I don’t mind reverting back to a smaller forward line. But I don’t know if Tmac and Fritsch provide enough scoring or contested marking power come finals. 3
WERRIDEE 5,638 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 2 obvious ins and outs. IN: VINEY, B.BROWN OUT: SPARROW, WEIDEMAN Weideman won't play a game for the rest of the season he's cooked. Time to let him go for a second rounder. 3

We might be better off with one of Brown or Weid come finals, but I think it's clear Weid needs a spell and Brown can't come back in on no form or games. Let's get our pressure game back on track then work out if we need the extra tall. There's still a long way left in the season 2
