Thought May was actually decent. Shut down Elliot in the first half but then went on Mihocek and I think he kicked one on him. The other goals were on Petty.

Petty was poor, although Darcy Cameron was gifted two of them by the umpire.

I'll preface this by saying I like petty but he was destroyed yesterday.

Can mark pretty well but his decision making on when to mark and when to spoil is not yet there. Too often gets bodied out of the contest.

And when he gets the ball in a close situation his first thought is to grab the ball tight and fall to the ground, I guess attempting to force a stoppage.

I find it hard to know whether this is being coached into him or whether he is nervous about his place in the side or if he genuinely doesn't have an attacking mode.

He's young and the jury is still out but I would like to see more progress from him soon.

May didn't play on Elliott in the first half. He was on Cameron.

Hibberd was on Elliott.

May would never play on Elliott.

Oliver poor kicking.

When the game was in the balance, quarters 1 and 4 he didn't lay a single tackle and had 7 possessions for those 2 quarters combined. hopeless.

I'd like to see Petty having a couple of runs as a forward instead of 'you know who'. Some specialist coaching and experience might be very handy. There is quite a deal of skills and intellect in the forward's role, and perhaps, he might display these to good effect.

My parallel observer of the TV coverage of the game counted 10 hits to Oliver's head (most from behind as haymakers) before half time so I guess the effects were quietly carried across the rest of the game. As we know, Max  gets his unfair share of these head and neck clouts each match despite the failing, oblivious eyes/decision-making of the snot goblins.

Gawn and Oliver are repeatedly assaulted during matches.

May was definitely standing Elliott when he was in front of us at the Randwick end. It was an obvious mismatch of size but Elliott was not able to use any speed advantage so it worked but May dropped a couple and fumbled uncharacteristically.

He did take the first grab in the mark thar Cameron was paid but he was not directly standing him. Elliott certainly got away from him in Third quarter. He stood Mihohek a few times. Our defence did seem to hold positions while Pies forwards rotated. The subsequent confusion created was responsible for the looseness that led to goals. But the defence did not lse the game. Our forwards lost it and their defence won it through better marking and distribution.

TMac - was fully dilated

Sparrow - caught too often

Petty - shades of OMac

Weed - over and out

JJ - a consistent performer

Kozzie - doesn’t do enough

Goodwin - a wakeup call

Chook Fowler - seriously peed off

Need to play Petty Foward or he will turn into OMac

I'd love Petty forward instead of Weideman. Petty has showed promise in his 1 game trialled as a forward.

The accuracy and speed of delivery to their forwards by the pies was par excellence and our defenders were limited in stopping them.

Was a great performance and I hope we took notice. Our mids blew it as much as our forward line did imho.

Who was umpire no, 10 FMD

The [censored] who stuffed the May hands on the mark, paid htb against Sparrow who had kicked it away and a deliberate when it was hand balled to a Demon as well as the no htb on Blicavs which cost the lions the game. He is hopeless. Will probably get the GF.

And who will take his rôle until Tomlinson returns to defence?  Majak?

But SHocking and Gil tell us repeatedly that  the head is sacrosanct, and if course Christian does too (when the commentators highlight it) ?

AFL should be hammered for letting this happen:

- Mummy & Nankervis thugs, opponent beats me oh I’ll hit him in the head

- if DeGoey got sent off for a quarter would have a better effect (replay should be used on this type of crap)

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read.
