Hawks playing okay. The SCG is a shizen ground for footy. Why couldn't we play the filth at giants stadium ?

Would be huge if Hawthorn gets this win.

Look at Richmond's draw from here. They've been given an absolute platter.

They can easily slot into top 4.

Well to be fair to them, they'e already played six top 8 sides, but yes, after this week they only have two more to come.

Frosty. Gotta love his enthusiasm and athleticism, but not his higher cerebral functions. ?

Free kick Hawthorn in full flight. 21-9 at 3/4 time, Swans getting murdered by the umpires

Razor Ray has put himself on the ball for the Hawks....he is everywhere....

Yes … the numbers are as stated, but how many have been wrong, or even “controversial”?

Anyone beats anyone on their day.

So,

1. Adelaide result not so bad?

2. Beware Dees. Every week.

And who says bottom teams have nothing to play for now the final 8 is 'settled' (looking at you Derwayne on SEN today!)

This game looks over.

Sydney's next four are Port (away), West Coast, the Dogs (away) and GWS (away). They only have three games left for the season at the SCG (given they had one flipped to last week).

If they drop those four games, they'll be 8-9.

They'll likely win at least one, but this will hurt their top 4 chances.

Yep. It’s a very strong competition.

Is this result good for us ??

Sydney are not really threatening for the flag but this might give the tigers a sniff of the top 4

That's right.

Starting this week vs Collingwood.

Sydney's 3-1 against the top 8, but they're now 5-4 against the bottom 10.

They also have a great set of double-up games: not one of them is against the top 8 (GWS, GC, Fremantle, Essendon, St Kilda).

There have been at least two games that Sydney has been lucky to win.

The thing I really don’t get is the 7 commentary alluding to Sydney getting a raw deal with the umps. Please

Swans with it all to do now with a young list, only way is down.

AFL handouts will only take you so far in a short period of time.

This result has zero relevance to us at all.

Got to hand it to Clarko. he is a genius they way he plans for games. As some of the media said clarko has had 10 days to plan for this and how to beat Sydney. It is a good win.

Jai Newcombe 12 tackles in his first game after getting taken in the mid season draft a few weeks ago. There is a kid that just wants to play footy and will grab his chance and make the most of his opportunity.

Spot on.

Top four competition is coming from Dogs, Brisbane, Geelong, Richmond and Port. I'm not at all sold on Port.

Record vs top 8 sides:

  1. Melbourne - 5-0
  2. Geelong - 4-2
  3. Sydney - 3-1
  4. Dogs - 3-2
  5. Brisbane - 2-4
  6. West Coast - 1-2
  7. Port - 1-4
  8. Richmond - 1-5

Richmond is Richmond, so they should always be feared, but they need to prove themselves against top 8 sides in 2021.

Also, number of games remaining vs top 8 sides:

  1. Dogs - 5
  2. West Coast - 5
  3. Melbourne - 4
  4. Geelong - 4
  5. Sydney - 3
  6. Brisbane - 3
  7. Port - 3
  8. Richmond - 3

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
