Which really reduces options if she is being double teamed, as is often the case, as a key forward.

It's why I would like to see her go back...

I think we have the forward half covered now but have need of another tall back.

Her athleticism and intercept marking would be good coming off half back I would think.

If we can get overs in a trade

The Hawks didn't even want to give up pick 14 so we can forget overs.

She is an excellent player, though i think somewhat over rated, and super exciting when on, but I don't think she's ever got fit enough with us.

And at the risk of being unfair I wondered if her sub optimal fitness  was a factor in her injury in the first game of last season (she looked completely cooked early on in that game), particularly given her choice to go to the Olympics as a red bull ambassador rather than a full preseason.

her sponsored ambassador visit to the olympics had nothing to do with her shoulder being cactus, again

which is exactly why dingley doesn't want to pay 'overs' for her - she's struggled for years with her shoulders

i imagine her boxing career - as opposed to her aflw hobby - has more to do with that than anything

Maybe, maybe not.

Yes she has struggled with shoulder issues, but there is a correlation between fitness and the risk injury and its possible her lack of fitness contributed to her reinjuring her shoulder.

But I'll concede that's an unknown and I might be being unfair.

As for her boxing career, I'd consider making it a hobby if her last fight is anything to go by.

8-1-1 record is pretty orright, with two australian championship belts

i'd wager she's made significantly more money with 10 boxing bouts than 69 aflw games, as nice as some of them have been...

I'd take that bet.

I know bugger all about boxing, let alone women's boxing, but I suspect she's made very little money as a boxer.

Im guessing the prizemoney for women's boxing in Australia is next to nothing.

The prizemoney for women's boxing in Australia is so bad I only watched Tayla's last bout because Kayo paid me to view.

She’s seems too mercenary for my liking. I don’t watch many AFLW games and I have never seen her perform more than average when I have. Am I missing something?

Hawthorn has been unable to unlock an agreement for Harris throughout the Trade Period, with the Hawks not yet willing to part with pick No.14 or slide that selection back in an effort to secure the four-time All-Australian.

I’d tell Hawks to f-off.  Sure Harris has had injuries but imv she’s still a talent. Not many players can do this.  https://www.afl.com.au/video/707891/harris-proves-the-difference-in-scary-good-outing?videoId=707891&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1645437974001

To be fair on Tayla she spent less than a week in Paris with Nike and missed just ONE scheduled training
Having said that I am not adverse to her moving on if we get a good pick for her. BangBnagBang’s Tayla plus pick 20 for 14 & 28 seems fair to all involved.
I am concerned with her playing down back particularly when the ball hits the ground

Really pleased to see the club staying the course for a trade.

The Hawks AFLW seem to have got rather cocky with their trading like their AFL counterparts.

Hope Tayla stays.

With Tayla Harris you are paying for potential.

Her potential to us is worth a lot. And I'd want a pretty high pick, access to equivalent potential, in return.

Now things get really interesting!

Very intersting, indeed!

Neither Coll or Hawks will use their first round picks if she enters the draft.

If Tayla delists herself I assume she isn't eligible to join a club as an SSP recruit?    It is usually club delisted players or undrafted players that can be an SSP recruit - not sure with a self-dlisted player ...

AFLW don't have a preseason draft so she can't 'walk' to Collingwood for nicks.

Reckon her options are limited.  She stays!🙂

... we wait

I'm happy it didn't go through.

Tayla stays, Hawthorn can please themselves.

At this point, if she goes, it must be an untenable situation. Hopefully not the case.

I just dredged up the trade we brought her in with, as a curiosity, and because I want to call it a win even if she goes haha. Part of a five-team, seven-player mega trade that boiled down to:

MELBOURNE
In –
Olivia Purcell (Geelong), Tayla Harris (Carlton), picks 44 (Carlton) -> Tahlia Gillard, and 49 (Adelaide) -> Alison Brown
Out – Chantel Emonson (Geelong), picks 15 (Geelong), 32 (Carlton), 42 (GWS) and 47 (Adelaide)

if you have no Loyalty, you can bugger off somewhere else

"The four-time All-Australian forward has an offer to stay at the Demons on a new contract, but could also delist herself and nominate for Monday's draft in an effort to find a new home.

If she stays, Great and good,  !

if the delisting option is taken, then we have dodged a bullet.  we don't need players like that

Edited by red and blue forever

I'd be disappointed if she walked to the draft after the optics of her exit from Carlton and move to the dees.

She was being smashed in the media and by Carlton, and we stepped in and took her in. From what I can tell we've provided good support both in and out of football.

I understand that this is a business, and that for the AFLW players in particular, the salaries aren't that high and careers are short. But I do think there needs to be an element of loyalty in return when you are looked after.

She won't nominate for the draft. why would she?

I'm glad she's staying. We are a better chance of a flag next year with her on the list.

btw Hawks are fools. i don't think pick 14 is too much for her. They have a young team as it is. Tayla is exactly the type of experienced player they should bring in to get to the next level.

Is it confirmed she wanted out?

Might have just explored her options which is perfectly reasonable

You don’t appreciate her ability to have a large effect on the game with her physical strength and marking. And she demands the first defender so that makes the other forwards roles a lot easier.

If she plays at CHB look out for a stellar season.

Her record of a goal a game is a worthwhile achievement in her 50 plus games.

Start looking at team results not just her only as she rucks  also.

Sounds like the Hawks got cold feet and wasted everyone's time

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.

After a one-year reprieve, the Demons return down the freeway to Kardinia Park — the site of both one of our greatest triumphs and one of our darkest days — as they face the Cats under Friday night lights. This one could get ugly. Who comes in, and who comes out?
